Overview of Marie Osmond’s Seven Adorable Grandchildren — Including Stephen And Rocket Jade
Mar 05, 2021
The joys of grandmotherhood radiate brightly from Marie Osmond. The "Paper Roses" singer can be seen soaking up the love of her grandchildren on her Instagram page. The singer-actress-philanthropist has a total of eight children and seven grandchildren — with one more on the way! Her children are Stephen, Jessica, Rachael, Brandon, Brianna, Matthew, Abigail, and the late Michael Blosil. Her grandchildren are Stephen Jr., Rocket Jade, Christian, Maxwell, Maude, Wolf, and Mabel. Marie's son Stephen and his wife Claire are said to be expecting a fourth child this year. Marie made the announcement in October 2020 via social media. A festive photo of grandchildren Stephen Jr., Christian, and Maxwell at the pumpkin patch was accompanied by a caption that read, “October fun with Stephen, Claire, and their boys ... Excited to announce baby number four is on the way!”
Being a part of a large family is nothing new for Marie. She grew up with all brothers, the eighth of nine children. And show biz has remained a constant, as the clan sang and danced together publicly at young ages. Marie and her brother, Donny Osmond, would eventually co-host the variety show "Donny and Marie." In 2007, she showed off her dancing skills as a celebrity contestant on "Dancing with the Stars," where she placed third alongside her dance partner, Jonathan Roberts.
Marie, as the matriarch of her own large band of children and grandchildren, has lovingly and seamlessly fulfilled her motherly role. Read on to see what she's up to now and to meet the grandkids.
Keeping In Touch
During the current health crisis, Marie is nonetheless still in "Glamma" mode. She has continued visiting and keeping tabs on her children and their youngsters while social distancing. She also uses her phone to keep in touch with her siblings, kids and grandkids. And luckily for those of us interested in the star's life, Marie proudly displays her affection for her adorable grandchildren on social media. In an interview with People, she said, "Little Rocket is such a gift! I can’t stop looking at her – isn’t she so beautiful? She looks like her mommy! I could not be happier for Rachael, Gabriel, and their growing family."
After the birth of Rocket Jade, Marie told People, "I'm a Glamma again — two times grandma, two times as glamorous! Nine years ago, I was 50 pounds heavier. Today, I’ve felt better and have so much energy to keep up my shows, my family, and now my two beautiful grandchildren. I’m a lucky woman.”
Making Some Adjustments
The Osmond bunch has made many adjustments over the past few years. In addition to adding more babies to the crew, Abigail has gone off to college and Matt has traveled on a mission trip. Despite these big changes and the challenges of having a career in the spotlight, maintaining a work-life balance seems to be a non-issue for Marie. "My son-in-law Gabriel does alterations and on-set wardrobe for all my shoots, so he and my daughter Rachel brought their two kids Rocket and Wolf. So, four little grandkids are all playing together," Marie said on Instagram, along with a charming picture of little Maxwell at his second birthday party.

These days, Marie has had her hands full with family matters but has also managed to remain consistent concerning her professional life. She told Dr. Oz, "I've been working 58 years in this business." Over the past few decades, Marie has also made frequent appearances as a panelist on CBS's "The Talk." She was invited to become an official panel member in September 2019 as a replacement for Sara Gilbert. She told Stephen Colbert, "I've co-hosted 40-something times." So she is well accustomed to the ladies sitting as the existing panelists. She was thus likely looking forward to becoming a panel member of "The Talk," so much so that she explained that she developed an anticipatory nervousness that resulted in "butterflies." When she finally did join "The Talk," she called it quits on her 11-year run performing in Vegas with her brother, Donny. Their final performance at the Flamingo Las Vegas was scheduled for Nov. 16, 2019. The duo plans to continue performing together in some capacity. During her visit on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," she said, "It's crazy, we were supposed to be there for six weeks and it has evolved into 11 years." The two had been performing five nights per week since beginning in September 2008.
What She's Up to Now
After quitting "The Talk," CBS wrote in a statement, “Marie is a consummate professional, and we thank her for sharing her personal experiences, insight, as well as incredible talents, with our audience. We will miss her humor, kindness and good nature, and wish her much success in her future endeavors.”
Luckily, the "Donny and Marie" star has indeed been successful in her future endeavors. In November 2020, Lifetime released the movie "The Christmas Edition" in which Marie plays the role of a Scrooge-like overbearing boss with an aspiring journalist played by Carly Hughes.
She has since left "The Talk" to make room for overdue quality time with her husband, Steve Craig. The two were originally married back in 1982. As a tribute to her late son, the couple wed on a date to coincide with his birthday and the birthday of Marie's deceased mother. "We chose this day to kind of have Michael here as well," she explained.
Together, they had a son, Stephen James Craig. Stephen Jr. would go on to become adopted by Marie's second husband, music producer Brian Blosil, changing his name to Stephen Blosil, which was likely in part sparked by Marie and Steve's divorce in 1985. From 1986 to 2007, Marie was married to Brian who fathered the remaining children. However, after the singer parted ways with Brian in 2007, Marie and Steve got back together, remarrying in 2011.
These days, the two have been keeping cozy in their Utah home in the mountains. Following her exit from "The Talk," the country music artist tweeted, "My husband and I just dropped our last two kids off at college, we looked at each other, laughed, and remembered we hadn’t been this alone together since 1982!! So, at this stage of my life, I’m looking forward to spending more time with him and visiting all the kids/grandkids.”
Grandbaby Number Eight Due Soon
Marie's son Stephen and his wife Claire are awaiting the arrival of their fourth child.
Marie said during a virtual appearance on the "The Dr. Oz Show" in November 2020, "I call my grandkids all the time on FaceTime. It's just a fun way to connect when we're not together." She is in a text message group with her siblings as well. Her own children are a part of their own group on which they send cute pics and life updates. "I think those things are really important especially as they grow up so you can be connected to them," she added. Marie also confessed that while her children were young, she began the tradition of sewing them matching holiday threads. "Every year I made my children matching pajamas." As the number of offspring grew and grew, she adapted by making an impressive batch of t-shirts instead. She also offered a bit of motivating wisdom for us during these troubling times:
"Through anything difficult in life, you have a choice to either make you bitter or better," Marie told Dr. Oz. Given all the incredible things that Marie has been through — she has 7 grandchildren, after all — it's safe to say that the singer has been around the block a few times, and so we ought to trust her judgment. In any case, we're excited to see what Marie does next as she eases into her sixties. And we're all waiting for the big moment when Stephen and Claire welcome their fourth child (Marie's eighth grandchild) this year!
