Being a mother can be one of the purest feelings of joy in this life. Mothers are essential personalities in children’s lives and can sometimes be completely overwhelmed with joy, love, responsibility, and also sacrifices for their children. A mother’s presence in a child’s life through their formative years will go a long way toward setting the child’s path for the future.
Being a mother is so much more than giving birth, adopting a child, or having a family; it is all the time, effort, and sacrifices needed to ensure your children get the best life possible.
While motherhood is a beautiful journey, it is not the easiest road to travel. Many twists, turns, and challenges will arise while nurturing a child. As children go through the developmental stages, so do mothers, except that the stages involved in motherhood are not linear and could be repetitive with the addition of a new child.
Although it is often said the most difficult stage of motherhood is the one where your children leave home as adults, the stage where they are toddlers, middle schoolers, and teenagers comes a close second. Mothers in the toddler and middle school stages are usually stressed and frustrated with hyperactive kids that are difficult to understand.
Not to mention that they often have to pair their job as mothers with their regular day jobs and keep the home. One such mother who was stressed by her children’s demands is Annalee Ford. On June 5, 2023, she shared a video on TikTok, admitting to screaming at her kids. Unsurprisingly, many other moms with similar experiences related to her story. Find out more below.

Being a mom is hard work, and Ford, a civil engineer and mother of two daughters, aged 4 and 2, respectively, has come to understand that. On June 5, 2023, the mother of two shared a TikTok video in which she made it clear that her toddler and kindergartener had driven her to her wit’s end.
“It’s just been one of those days. Ever since they woke up this morning, everything has been a fight, everything has been a struggle. They’ve been fighting with each other. They’ve been screaming at me,” she said in the video.
“My 4-year-old told me she hated me because I couldn’t un-tear her page that she asked me to tear.”
“This morning, I just lost it. I just screamed at my kids,” she continued.
Further into the video, Ford revealed that before giving birth, she thought the hardest part of motherhood would be the sleepless nights and the lack of freedom that comes with it. But being a mom of two kids has made her realize that dealing with the emotions of kids and hers might be the hardest part.
“It is the pure exhaustion that comes from emotionally regulating 24/7 a day,” Ford confessed. “The patience and the strength that it takes to watch these humans combust in front of you and stay cool so that they can regulate, and take in all of their emotions for them. Oh my god.”
Since she posted the video, it has garnered over 800,000 views and thousands of comments from parents who could relate well to her frustration with motherhood and parenting.
“I needed to know I’m not alone,” one mom commented.
“100% relatable!! The emotional balancing is my morning routine lol,” commented another.
