Nicole Kidman is an Australian actress and producer born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on June 20, 1967. She has starred in several films in various genres, including the 2001 musical film “Moulin Rouge!” and the psychological horror film “The Others.” Her recent works include the 2020 musical comedy film “The Prom” and the 2021 miniseries “Nine Perfect Strangers,” which she both starred in and produced.

Kidman's films vary in genre, and she has portrayed many different people over the years. From playing Virginia Woolf in "The Hours" with a prosthetic nose to donning a wig and heavy makeup to bring punk rocker Queen Boadicea to life in "How to Talk to Girls at Parties," Kidman's many looks have been iconic.

The actress credits her husband, Keith Urban, with helping her gain self-confidence and come out of her shell. Before marrying the country singer, she said she was rather introverted and shy. The couple supports each other's successful careers and always makes time to discuss their latest projects.

One place where Kidman's confidence has always shown onscreen. The star is not afraid to transform boldly if it helps her get deeper into her role. Throughout her long career, Kidman has dramatically changed her look a number of times, and the effort has certainly helped her performances as well.

Aside from her award-winning performances of complex characters, Kidman has been known to portray powerful older women who developed romantic relationships with younger men. In the 57-year-old actress’ upcoming 2024 erotic thriller film, “Babygirl,” she has received criticism on social media for playing a similar character, in love with her on-screen partner, 28-year-old Harris Dickinson.

Talking about “Babygirl” to Vanity Fair, Kidman explained that she plans on not seeing the film until it premieres at the 84th Venice International Film Festival.

“Maybe I will see it that way—I’ll let you know,” Kidman told the publication. “I’ve made some films that are pretty exposing, but not like this.”

Recognizing the presence of very intimate and steamy scenes with Dickinson, Kidman confirmed that she received significant help from on-set intimacy coordinators and their director throughout filming to maintain professionalism.

Meanwhile, people online could not help but react to Kidman’s character and relationship with Dickinson in the film, as shown in the trailer.

“GET MY BOYFRIEND AWAY FROM THAT OLD WOMAN,” a user said on X, on Kidman, who is 29 years older than Dickinson.

On Instagram, social media users are more pointed in their criticism toward Kidman and her character.

"But the fact that she is paired with all young guys lately is a bit cringey! 🙃" one echoed

“Didn’t she just made [sic] a film about having an affair with a young guy?” a user wrote, referencing her 2024 Netflix film “A Family Affair.”

On Reddit, some even wondered if Kidman’s husband, Urban, is getting bothered about his wife being typecasted on a said character.

“Maybe Keith Urban is into it..,” one suggested, echoing another, “does keith urban ever just go "bruh"”

However, not all people are critical of Kidman and her character. Many seemed excited about the film and even believed that this showcased her range as an actress.

“Nicole Kidman continues to push boundaries in her career, which is admirable for an actress of her stature. "Babygirl" sounds like it could be a provocative and challenging film, much like some of her past works such as "Eyes Wide Shut" or "The Paperboy."” a user said on Reddit, while some on X said that she deserves an Oscar for this role alone.
