Kidman has been married to country singer Keith Urban since June 2006. The couple met at G'Day USA during an event to honor Australians living in Los Angeles. Their relationship began a few years after Kidman finalized her divorce from her ex-husband, Tom Cruise. Kidman and Keith were married in Sydney, Australia, and the pair share two children. They also have homes in Los Angeles, New York City and Nashville, Tennessee.

The couple met back in 2005. In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2013, Kidman said she and Keith met at the perfect time in both of their lives.
"I would probably say that two very lonely people managed to meet at a time when they could open themselves to each other," she said.
The pair met at a gala, and she told Ellen Degeneres on "The Ellen Degeneres Show," that she was bummed when Keith never reached out to her afterward.
"I remember thinking I had such a crush on him and he wasn't interested in me...He didn't call me for four months," the actress said. However, while Kidman anticipated his call — Keith said he didn't think she was interested. While appearing on "Interview" in 2018, Keith said he never believed she would go for him.
"I thought she was way out of my league. Of course," Keith said. "It's not an, 'oh shucks, oh me' story, it's legit – I mean, I'm a kid from Brissie, I went to Nashville ... somewhere along the line I end up meeting Nic," he admitted. "I might have a wild imagination of possibilities in life, obviously, but not in a million years did I think that somebody like that would be interested in me. At all," he said.
Despite his lack of confidence, Kidman was smitten with him. A mutual friend gave him Kidman's phone number, but he decided not to call her right away. "Somebody had given me her number and I had it in my pocket for a while. I kept looking at it thinking, 'If I call this number, she's going to answer. I don't know what (to) say'," Keith explained. The country artist explained why he held off from pursuing Kidman at first.

"I wasn't in a very healthy place in my life. I'd never have thought she'd see anything in a guy like me. But at some point, I plucked up the courage to call those numbers and she answered, and we started talking and we talked and talked and talked and talked and it was effortless," Keith shared.
Keith spoke about his difficult childhood and said he struggled with addiction for a long time, but Kidman was the one to help pull him out of it.
"My wife put an intervention together and it was … it was divine. I mean, 'divine intervention', but it's true, it really was," he said. "It was love in action and the timing was absolutely divine."
The couple debuted their romance not long after meeting at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards in February. They announced in May of 2006 that they were engaged. The couple married in Sydney, Australia.
A source from the celebrity wedding told People, "It was the most emotional and beautiful ceremony." The source added, "But when Nicole and Keith looked at each other it was like they were the only two people in the room. They are so deeply in love. It was the most incredible wedding."
In July 2008, the couple's first daughter, Sunday Rose, was born in Nashville. Keith took to his website to announce the exciting news, and wrote:
"Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today."
Over the next two years, the happy family continued to grow closer together. In 2010, the news of another arrival astounded Kidman's and Keith's fans worldwide. Their second daughter, Faith Margaret Kidman Urban, was born via surrogacy. The announcement came as a surprise, as the couple kept plans of having another child away from the public.
Kidman and Keith announced the arrival of their second daughter shortly after the 2010 Golden Globe Awards, releasing the following statement:
"Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret. No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier."
Kidman already had experience as a mother from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise and their two children, Isabella Jane Cruise and Connor Antony Cruise. On the other hand, Keith was a first-time parent with no experience raising girls. In an ABC News interview, he confessed:
"It's an incredible feeling. And having girls — I love having girls. You know, I come from a family with no sisters, one brother. So, it's been quite the learning curve in a really good way."
He also said that he was highly grateful to Kidman and her work as a mother since he had no previous experience raising kids.
The couple takes great care to make sure their daughters don't grow up surrounded by the fame and media attention their parents' careers cause.
"We have a real life in the sense that we do the most normal things as a family, and we don't live on social media all the time. We don't read tabloids… we don't give it any attention," Keith explained to ABC News.
The experience caused Keith to reflect on his own experience of moving to Australia as a 2-year-old. Speaking of his parents, he said: "They were keeping it together really well, considering… starting a completely brand new life in a foreign country, which Australia was to them."
"They didn't know anybody. They didn't have any support. They didn't have any money. They just did it… I'm just really impressed at what they were able to accomplish, the two of them," Keith added.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Kidman also mentioned that some of her parenting decisions might make her unpopular with many modern parents. She explained:
"They don't have a phone and I don't allow them to have an Instagram. I try to keep some sort of boundaries."
And even with their busy work schedule as international superstars, the doting parents insist their daughters are always their number one priority. In that same interview, Kidman revealed that she and her husband are involved parents, a feat that can prove to be extremely difficult for their busy careers. They've come up with creative ways for having their children around them as much as possible, having them – and at times, their tutor – join world tours and movie sets. Additionally, the actor flies home as much as possible – even when in the midst of an intense shoot.
Strict rules and a constant presence aside, the essential key to Keith and Kidman's success as parents is teamwork. Speaking to Country Now, Keith praised his wife for her exemplary parenting skills.
"She's an extraordinary mom, she really, really is," he said.
"Those girls are very, very lucky, and I feel very lucky that the children I should have in this world happen to be with Nic. I don't know anything about raising kids and Nic does, and that comes in extremely, um, it's really made for an experience I wouldn't have had without that. Her patience, her recognizing them as people and not just little kids is really extraordinary. Her attention to honoring their feelings and listening to them right from day one – really being attentive to that is not how I was raised at all, so it's really beautiful to see."
Kidman, on the other hand, says her husband is her "rock." In an interview with the “Today” show in 2014, the actor admitted that she finds the most comfort when leaning on Keith when times get dark.
"I'm lucky to have a rock of a husband and a strong faith. I have both those things," she said.
"Keith and my dad… good men. Choosing to protect his family and take care of himself, but take care of his daughters, and walk the walk, if that makes sense. Not just talk the talk."
While Kidman and Keith constantly maintain that they are very much in love, they also admitted their relationship has not always been easy.
Keith said in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald:
"It had nothing to do with whether life was good or bad. It had nothing to do with any of that stuff. I was an equal opportunity addict. I'd get high when it was sunny, high when it was raining — it didn't matter. It was something I should have dealt with many, many years before I met Nic, and tried to, but it just never took. I wasn't ready. Simple as that," Keith said.
After sobriety struggles, Keith was able to pull himself out of a dark place. He landed himself a Las Vegas residency in 2021.
While on a podcast, "The Big Talk Show," in 2022, Keith said, "We're just a couple who work things out, go through things together, life, and support each other the best way we can and try and raise our family."
Kidman has said that the couple has dealt with everything under the sun and still came through everything better on the other side.
"We were in a very, very, very bad, painful place, and have managed to step through it, and I hope that gives some people some hope who may be in the same place," Kidman said.
"And that's enough said. Anything else is overindulgent and unnecessary right now. And I think it jinxes it, in a way, and that's why I don't go on about my enormous feelings for this man," the star added.
Kidman and Keith have been married for almost 20 years now and have been very happy together. Through divorces, children, sobriety struggles, and living their lives in the public eye, Kidman and Keith have survived it all. These two stars are an inspiration to not only couples in Hollywood but couples around the whole world.
Kidman and Keith divide their time amongst many homes, including a sprawling 10,925-square-foot property in Nashville, Tennessee, that boasts seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and two half bathrooms. It also has a tennis court and swimming pool.
This beautiful property isn't the only beautiful place they call home. The couple also owns a 111-acre property in Bunya Hill in Sutton Forest, New South Wales, Australia, in which they nurture animals such as alpacas, chickens and cows. The large property was purchased for $4.1 million in 2008. The home was built back in 1878 and still exudes some of its original beauty and charm.
Kidman has expressed that when they are residing in her home country of Australia, she is able to have extra help with her children. The Hollywood and A-list couple doesn't love to leave their children, and they are able to have their family be involved with helping when they are overseas. "My sister's staying over and my mum's helping; I don't have that help in Nashville so that's been incredible," Kidman told the New York Times.
The star actress also shared:
"We never leave the kids, one of us is always there. When Keith went to Nashville and I had to work late nights, I rang Ant and asked her to move in with the girls and she did, and bought along her kids."
The couple's Australian home was featured on Vogue's “73 Questions,” giving fans and viewers an inside peek into the rustic home. The actress took Vogue for a tour in and around the stately main house, guest cottage and the property’s grounds, which featured plenty of greenery, picket fences and fruit trees. When asked what she loved most about farm living, Kidman said, "Simplicity, the air, the peace."
In the video, viewers get to see the chic yet cool pool room and the grand yet quaint library. The library had a beautiful brown leather sofa decorated with an American flag pillow, and behind the couch were ceiling-high bookshelves stacked with books and classy trinkets. These two rooms were just two short stops on the extensive tour. The video also had quick access to her kitchen, where there was a large granite island and a gorgeous long wooden table. Getting to sit down inside her living room, her living space has a grand black piano and a roaring fireplace. The home seems to be painted with a lot of white that lets the natural light in.
One of the cutest moments in the video showed Kidman walking the back of a chicken coop on the property with a basket to collect some eggs.
“Look what I’ve got!” the star exclaimed as she held out an egg for the cameraman to see. Despite her Hollywood A-list status, it was refreshing to see the Oscar-winner’s inner farm girl come out at that moment.
In the interview with NYT, Kidman said that living on the property gives them all a great appreciation:
"That's special. It's the nature of what we're all having to do now – you get to be commune-like; this extended family where you're all raising each other's kids together."
