New Chapter For Prince George: He May Change Schools Soon
Jul 16, 2021
Prince William and Kate Middleton have three children in total, including 3-year-old Louis, 5-year-old Charlotte and 7-year-old George. George will be turning 8 years old on July 22, 2021, which may give royal fans a treat as Kate is known to release a portrait of her kids each year on their birthdays. It is hard to believe that George is already a young man.
Most recently, George looked quite grown up as he joined his father for two Euro 2020 soccer matches. He looked like William's mini-me as he donned a smart suit that was perfectly tailored. While George was devastated that England ended up losing the final match on July 11, 2021, he was supported by both his parents at the game. It went to show that though George has a very different upbringing to most children as he is set to be the King of England in the future, he is just like any other kid in most other aspects of his life.
Currently, George and his sister Charlotte attend Thomas Battersea, located in south London. The private school only educates children up until the age of 13, and so George is nearing the age when he will have to find a different school. However, fans are wondering if George will be following in the footsteps of his father and uncle and attend Ludgrove School in Berkshire. Hello Magazine reported that both William and Harry attended Ludgrove School from the age of eight before they attended Eton College, which is known for its prestige and history in the UK.
It was announced that William and Kate were expecting their first child on 3 December 2012, and the news came in early during her first pregnancy due to her hyperemesis gravidarum needing hospital treatment. Prince George was born in the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London on July 22, 2013. The little cherub weighed 8lb 6oz and Hello Magazine reported that Kate is said to have delivered him naturally.
She opened up about the moment of George's birth on Fletcher's podcast and recalled, "Amazing, amazing. It is extraordinary as I've said. How can the human body do that? It is utterly extraordinary, actually. And he was very sweet. And also sort of relieved that he was a happy, healthy boy."
However, the experience of presenting Geroge to the public was also "slightly terrifying" for the duchess, although the couple was "hugely grateful for the support that the public has shown us, and actually for us to share that joy and appreciation with the public was equally important. But equally, it was coupled with a newborn baby and inexperienced parents and the uncertainty about what that held. So there were all sorts of mixed emotions."
George had a slightly different start to his schooling as opposed to his siblings. He attended a different nursery from Charlotte and Louis as William had been working with East Anglian Air Ambulance and the family lived permanently at Anmer Hall on the Sandringham Estate at the time according to Cosmopolitan. Two-and-a-half-year-old George attended the Westacre Montessori in 2016 and continued there for a year and a half before the Cambridges moved to London, after which he attended Thomas Battersea, where he is enrolled currently as well.

Now that George is growing up so fast, the question of whether he will be changing his school as he reaches an important age has been asked. Hello Magazine reported that George's eighth birthday might signify George taking the important step of going to a boarding school that will help him prepare to attend the prestigious Eton College, which has educated prominent people, from prime ministers and aristocratic families to Nobel laureates. Many important families in the UK, including the royal family, also have a long tradition of their sons attending Eton College.
It is believed that George may attend the Ludgrove School in Berkshire soon as he is going to be of age. Both William and Harry attended Ludgrove when they turned eight years old, and George may follow suit, according to Hello Magazine. Kate and William reportedly had been enquiring about schools and residences in Berkshire, but the question of whether the family would move to Berkshire is still up in the air. This is because Charlotte still attends Thomas Battersea along with her brother, while young Louis goes to Willcocks Nursery School, which he started only in April. Willocks Nursery is very close to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's current residence at Kensington Palace.
Interestingly, Kate grew up in Berkshire, where she lived at Bucklebury Manor, a seven-bedroom Grade II-listed Georgian property in the area. Kate too attended boarding school at both the private St Andrew's School near Pangbourne, where she boarded part-weekly, and later attended as a boarding student Marlborough College in Wiltshire. Only time will tell whether George will end up attending Ludgrove in Berkshire soon and follow in his father's footsteps.
