If you're a mom, there is probably nothing you wouldn't do for your kids. Run into a burning building? Check. Jump in front of a speeding car, truck, or SUV to save them? Check. There is probably no situation scary enough that would keep you away from rescuing your children.
This is the case, even in the animal kingdom. A video that has recently gone viral shows a mother polar bear rushing to help her young cub after he fell in the water.

Every mom probably has fun memories of playing with their child when they were young. If you have a young child now, then you're getting the benefit of all that fun energy and playfulness right now. It turns out that polar bear cubs are very similar.
When the video begins, the young bear is playing with his mom. The pair live in a zoo and are having fun in their enclosure. The patient mother indulges her little cub while he appears to play with a blue object on the ground. The little cub rolls over on his back and clearly doesn't have a care in the world. He seems to be having the time of his life as he plays next to his mother. Of course, when kids play, accidents can happen.

While it may surprise some people to hear, polar bears are not born swimmers. They must learn how to navigate the water, just like human children. In this video, the polar bear family's enclosure has a pool of water that surrounds it. While the bears have plenty of room to move around if they don't wish to be wading in the water, the baby bear is very close to the edge of the water when he starts playing. As the little cub rolls onto his back, playing with the blue object, the mother bear strolls away from him.
As parents can attest, some of the biggest accidents happen when you're only gone for a minute. As the young cub rolls around, he accidentally ends up in the pool. While such an accident might, at first glance, appear to be funny, it stops being that way when you realize that the little cub doesn't know how to swim.
After the little cub lands into the pool, he bobs up and frantically tries to get back onto land. He can't swim, so he is mostly flailing and trying not to sink. In the video, you can see the mother polar bear turn around and realize what has happened. It's almost like you can see the human reaction of shock and terror in her face as she realizes that her baby needs her. The video shows mama polar bear rushing over and plunging into the water. You can see her position herself behind her cub and support him as he slowly makes his way back up the rocks. With his mother behind him, you can see the young polar bear settle down and relax. He slowly, but surely, makes his way back on the rocks while the onlookers cheer and make sounds of relief.
When you watch this video, you are shown that a mother's love is transcendent, even when it comes to animals. It makes you realize how special the bond is between mother and child.
