Meghan Markle Will Be Joining Prince Harry In Return Trip To UK In Hope Of Mending Royal Rift

Jul 07, 2021

The already tense relationship between Prince Harry, Prince William and the rest of the family ignited further after Harry and Meghan Markle sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a controversial interview in March. During the television special, the couple openly criticized the royal family and its culture. This interview was followed up with other notorious interviews in 2021, such as Harry's claims that royal life was a mix of 'The Truman Show' and "Being In A Zoo" and his role in the Apple+ docuseries "The Me You Can't see."

The currently fraught relationship between the brothers reportedly thawed a little after the funeral service for their grandfather, the late Prince Philip, when they were seen chatting together in April 2021. News outlets also report that Kate Middleton may have helped to calm the rift.

With Princess Diana's statue unveiling on July 1, 2021, many fans were curious if the brotherly tension would cause issues, or fall to the side during the event. Many royal experts expected nothing but professionalism from the brothers at the unveiling. That doesn't mean, however, that observers weren't also looking for clues about how much tension there currently still is between the brothers.

The brothers came together at Kensington Palace to commemorate and unveil a statue of their mother on what would have been her 60th birthday. Their reunion gave royal fans hope that the brothers were finally on their way to a reconciliation. Now, a royal expert claims that Meghan will be joining her husband the next time he is due to return to the UK in an effort to heal the rift in the family.

Express UK reported that royal correspondent Natalie Oliveri said, "There are reports that Prince Harry could be coming back to the UK in just 10 weeks time in September but this time his wife Meghan could be joining him. It hasn't been confirmed by the palace but this larger celebration is believed to be allowing some of Diana's friends and family to celebrate her life who couldn't attend the statue unveiling on July 1.

She added, "Because of Covid restrictions that ceremony was very small, it was really just Harry and his uncle and two of their aunties. This larger celebration in September will allow Diana's friends and family to celebrate her life, her 60th birthday and Meghan could join her husband this time."

Daily Star reported that Queen Elizabeth would be "overjoyed" to meet her newest great-granddaughter as well as Archie, whom she hasn't seen since Harry and Meghan's move to the US in March 2020.

Speaking on ITV's "Lorraine," Russell Myers reiterated that "there may be another bigger memorial for Princess Diana in the pipeline in September. And it has been rumoured that Harry may come over with the kids and with Meghan." He also added, "Obviously this will be fantastic for the rest of the family because they have not seen the two little ones. I’m sure the Queen will be overjoyed."

Meghan could not join Harry for the unveiling on July 1 as she had given birth a month prior. Born on June 4, 2021, Harry and Meghan's daughter Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor's birth was a point of delight for everyone in the royal family.

Royal watchers had previously predicted that Harry and Meghan would choose to honor both Elizabeth and the late Prince Philip by picking a meaningful name for their daughter, and they were right about it!

Express UK reported that the queen's close family called her "Lilibet" after the very young princess was unable to pronounce her own name. The queen’s parents and grandparents adopted the adorable nickname, and it has remained her nickname ever since.

Her late father, George VI, was once quoted as saying: "Lilibet is my pride. Margaret is my joy."

However, no other royal family members apart from Philip and the queen’s parents have reportedly called her "Lilibet," which means that her sweet nickname may now no longer be used after Philip's death. While it had only a prediction and not an assumption earlier that the queen's 12th great-grandchild may be called "Lily," Harry and Meghan went one step further and gave their daughter a remarkable name.

Lili's middle name was chosen after her late grandmother, Princess Diana. Lili's cousin, Princess Charlotte, also has the same middle name as her full name reads, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Diana's tragic death in 1997 deeply affected Harry, who was only 13 years old at the time of her death.

Nick Bullen, royal expert and founder of True Royalty TV told Us Weekly that the Lili could bring the royal family closer after the ongoing rift, saying,

"The birth of a baby is always a great unifier for a family and I’m sure all sides of the Sussex family will want to celebrate with Harry and Meghan. I think you can be absolutely certain that Harry and Meghan will be jumping on a Zoom call to introduce Her Majesty to her 11th great-grandchild."
