Meghan Markle Reveals Her Nightly Routine With Prince Harry

Sep 27, 2023

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle publicly announced their relationship to the world, many people looked up to them as fans believed their connection was somewhat straight out of a fairytale.

However, years into their romance and marriage, the couple was met with a lot of controversy especially when they announced that they were stepping back as senior royals. This made the public even more curious about what they do in their personal life especially when they decided to move to the United States to raise their children.

Before we dive into their daily routines, let’s take a look at their journey to marriage.

In 2017, the then newly-engaged couple spoke with the BBC to share details about their relationship and engagement.

The duchess recalled that they met through a blind date that a friend had set up for them. Meghan revealed she had only one condition — she would only go out with the prince if he was nice.

They agreed to go out for a drink and immediately bonded with each other to the point that they set up another date the following day.

Although the prince admitted that he had never watched an episode of “Suits” before and never even heard about Meghan prior to their meeting, he was instantly amazed by her beauty upon walking into the room where they had drinks.

Harry also revealed that the engagement happened weeks before they sat down for their interview with the BBC. He told the interviewer that it was just a typical night for the two of them as they stayed at their cottage where they dined over roasted chicken.

Meghan later revealed that the prince got down on one knee and before he even finished proposing, the duchess admitted she immediately said yes and put the ring on her finger.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry later tied the knot on May 19, 2018, which broke a couple of royal traditions, but nevertheless, millions of people still tuned in to watch the wedding of the century, and it was attended by hundreds of guests from the royal family as well as their closest friends.

The married couple later shocked the world by announcing they were stepping back as senior royals in early 2020. They have since relocated to the United States, where they live with their two children, son Archie and daughter Lilibet

Although they retained their HRH titles, they would no longer receive financial support from the palace or undertake any royal duties as representatives of the monarch. Their sharp criticism of the royal family's culture in the now infamous Oprah Winfrey interview of 2021 was met with some opprobrium around the world, but the couple also found a lot of support.

Since relocating to Montecito in Santa Barbara, California, the Sussexes have been busy setting up their own brand, Archewell

Meghan began hosting a podcast called “Archetypes” in August 2022. The show “dives into the labels that try to hold women back.” Meanwhile, Harry had already published his memoir in January 2023, entitled “Spare,” and described it as being “full of insight, revelation, self-examination and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.”

The couple also embarked on a journey to document their lives since their departure from the grand halls of Buckingham Palace in the Netflix series “Harry & Meghan.” The show chronicled the pair’s progression from the “secret, early days of their unexpected romance” to marriage in May 2018, as well as their experiences under intense public scrutiny.

After they stepped down from their duties as senior royals, fans were curious about how they spend their daily lives as they now reside in the United States. In an interview with Variety published in October 2022, the former actress shared details about an average workday for her and Harry.

The duchess revealed she and her husband share an office and they worked from home at the time.

“We’ll never get this time back. I make breakfast, and we get the kids set for the day. We do a lot of joint calls and Zooms, but also try to divide what we can focus our energies on so we can accomplish even more,” she said.

Meghan then added that her husband had been doing his best to keep up with a “24-hour time zone” as he needed to keep up with the other side of the world.

Many would expect the couple to have an expensive taste when it comes to food, but they are just like any other people who enjoy snacking on junk food.

“We drove down recently for a day of back-to-back meetings, equipped with chocolate chip cookies the size of my toddler’s head. Also, my husband’s favorite is In-N-Out,” she said.

In a video released by Variety on their TikTok account, Meghan gave an insight into her family’s nightly routine. She mentioned that when the kids were already sleeping, she would play a game called Wordle and would also do “10 minutes of DuoLingo” to re-learn the French language that she studied in high school.

Meghan added: “After these two things, if we turn on the TV, which is fairly rare, we are like most people with endless, endless, endless searching until you get so tired of searching you end up not watching anything.”
