Matt Damon And Wife Luciana Barroso Make Rare Red Carpet Outing With Their 3 Daughters

Mar 31, 2023

Matt Damon may be used to the spotlight as a global box office star of the Jason Bourne franchise, but he rarely makes a public appearance with his daughters with wife Luciana Barroso. So, when Isabella, Gia and Stella posed for the cameras on the red carpet alongside their parents, the media had a frenzy.

At the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles on March 27, 2023, red-carpet spectators were thrilled to see Damon arrive with his girls. The family was one united front in their matching neutral-toned ensembles and showed their support for the debut of "Air," the biographical movie about Nike snagging their million-dollar contract with eventual basketball superstar, Michael Jordan

Damon not only starred in the film as the shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro but he also produced "Air" with his best friend, Ben Affleck, who was the director. However that night, the Damon family was missing one daughter, Alexia, Barroso's eldest child from her first marriage.

In 2003, Damon met Barroso at a bar in Miami and had an instant connection. Barroso told Vogue Australia that Damon had fans asking for pictures and autographs at a bar where she was working, so the star came and hid behind the bar alongside her. He spent the rest of that night bartending and got tons of tips, and got to know his future bride.

Right off the bat, Barroso told him that she was a divorced single mother and had to turn down his invitation to hang out after. Damon became even more impressed with her then and that started their long-term relationship.

After their wedding in 2005, the couple expanded their family with the births of Isabella in 2006, Gia in 2008 and Stella in 2010. Damon acknowledged in a 2013 interview with Esquire that he got lucky his wife was not an actress because he is able to enjoy a normal life as a husband with four daughters.

E! News revealed that Alexia missed her family's rare red-carpet outing because she was filming a movie abroad. Alexia, who joined Damon as an extra in "We Bought a Zoo," is training to become a cinematographer and has been out of the nest since she turned 21 years old.

Isabella is her father's most vocal critic. Damon revealed in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning that his eldest biological daughter keeps his "feet firmly on the ground" because she loves to roast his movies. In 2021, Damon drew controversy because he revealed Isabella wrote him a "very long, beautiful treatise" on why he shouldn't use a disparaging word against the LGBTQ community, and his statements were misconstrued.

When Damon and his wife had Gia, the actor remarked that he's been outnumbered by women. When Stella was born, he said that the fourth child felt like a "whole new dynamic" even if he and his wife have done it before.

Though Damon rarely talks about his family in interviews, he shared in 2019 that he has the names of his four daughters tattooed on his biceps, right beside his wife's name.

“(Luciana) always felt alone on my arm, and I’ve always wanted to put the kids on there," Damon told Access Hollywood.

Meanwhile, Damon joked that he might have to rent an apartment rather than live with three teenage girls. But in reality, he’s very excited at the prospect of watching Isabella, Gia and Stella navigate their teenage years. The proud dad once said being a dad of four girls is a learning experience.

"I’m learning so much, not the least of which is how much smarter girls are,” Damon told Today in 2012.
