Man Spends $81K On Limb-Lengthening Procedure After Feeling ‘Inferior’ From Crush Rejecting Him

Jun 30, 2023

Limb lengthening surgeries are cosmetic procedures that extend the length of the arms or legs. It is a gradual and intense process so that the skin, muscles, nerves, bones, and soft tissue around the treated area can slowly increase in length. The process of lengthening a limb from surgery to healing takes about 9 to 12 months.

According to Cleveland Clinic, the surgery, which is typically conducted around the humerus (upper arm bone), radius (forearm bone), tibia (shin bone), and femur (thigh bone), was initially created to correct differences in the length of arms and legs and certain conditions that cause bone growth irregularities or shorter bone lengths, like cerebral palsy, benign growth tumors, skeletal dysplasia, growth plate fractures, and osteomyelitis, among others.

However, in the last couple of years, limb lengthening has become a popular cosmetic procedure among men. The reason for the increased interest in leg lengthening surgeries in men is not far-fetched — most of them suffer insecurities due to years of enduring short men jokes, while some have a limited dating pool due to their height. In an interview, Dr. Shahab Mahboubian, a surgeon at the Height Lengthening Institute in Burbank, California, revealed that he had conducted the procedure in men of different age groups.

"I even have 60- 65-year-old guys that have come to me to undergo the procedure because it just doesn't stop. The 'short' jokes keep going on and they feel inferior," he said.

One of the men who had a limb-lengthening surgery in December 2022, 27-year-old Georgia native Dynzell Sigers, documented his journey on TikTok and Instagram. Continue reading to see why Sigers went from 5' 5'' to 6' 0" feet.

Sigers reveled in new heights after he spent a whopping $81,000 on a limb-lengthening surgery to become six inches taller. After going through the process in December 2022, the former Navy medic took to social media to document his healing process.

In an interview with NeedToKnowUK, the Georgia native shared his inspiration for going through the painful procedure. Siger revealed that he had suffered from issues bordering on body image and self-esteem from a young age.

"I was always a very timid and reserved child and was always scared to be myself out of fear of being judged or unaccepted," he said. "And in my teen years, one time I was rejected by a girl I had a huge crush on and although she found me attractive, her reasoning was that I was too short and too young for her."

That singular occurrence made Siger conscious of his height, thus dwarfing his confidence when approaching women.

"I clung to that and always considered my height before approaching women, which often caused me to miss out on opportunities," he recalled. "Another major thing that stood out for me was that as much as I loved playing sports and I was very good at them, I refused to join any of my school teams because of my small stature."

For years, the former Navy medic searched without success for a means to get taller, but it wasn't until he discovered limb lengthening surgery that he finally found a realistic solution. Signer had to undergo six surgeries and endure months of physical therapy before achieving his dream height. However, it was worth it in the end for him, as he confessed:

“I feel like a new man and as though I was able to get a second chance at life.”
