Madonna Makes Rare Outing With Her Kids After Overcoming Worrying Health Emergency

Aug 21, 2023

Pop icon Madonna has defied the odds and broken boundaries throughout her multi-decade-long career. She is a singer, performer, and pop culture icon. Madonna has given us plenty of hits, defining the course of pop music and ultimately giving her the moniker the “Queen of Pop.”

Madonna was born on Aug. 16, 1958, making her 64 years old today. Originally from Michigan, the aspiring star moved to New York City in the late 1970s to pursue a career in dance before finally finding success as a solo singer. She has since released a plethora of No. 1 hits, including “Like a Virgin,” “Like a Prayer,” and “Vogue.”

After reaching international stardom, Madonna did a world tour in 2012 called MDNA. There she was pictured performing at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, kicking off the start of her tour in North America. Across multiple decades, Madonna has proven that she is a top-quality performer.

However, great music and iconic fashionable looks are not the only cultural contributions that the star has given the world. Madonna is also a mother to six children, with a mix of both biological and adopted children, resulting in a diverse and talented family. Her children include Lourdes “Lola” Maria Ciccone Leon, Rocco Ritchie, David Banda Mwale Ciccone, Chifundo Mercy James, and twins Stella and Estere Ciccone.

On June 2023, Madonna worried her legion of fans worldwide, including her family, when she was reportedly rushed to the hospital for a medical emergency. As a result, her “Celebration” World Tour was postponed as she recovered from the illness. Thankfully, she already had recovered and is non-stop in regaining back her energy as she celebrated her 65th birthday with her entire family.

At the time when Madonna was still in the hospital, music sources told People Magazine that the illness came about after she “ignored some symptoms of illness for quite a while because she thought they would go away.”

“She was rundown and not feeling 100 percent for a while in anticipation of her tour. She is relentless in her quest to be the best, to wow her fans and to do what others before her have not done,” the source added. Another insider told the publication that the 65-year-old singer was pushing herself “beyond the limit.”

Madonna suffered from a “serious bacterial infection,” as revealed by her manager, Guy Oseary. Madonna worried her fans and family as she was then rushed to the intensive care unit for tending. Eventually, she was discharged from the hospital and is already preparing for her then-postponed “The Celebration” tour.

In a statement on Instagram on July 10, 2023, she thanked her fans for being at her side during the dark time.

“I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life,” she said. “My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappointment anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.”

In another post on July 31, 2023, Madonna also posted photos of her, all glammed up with her son David and daughter Lourdes.

“Love from family and friends is the best Medicine. One month out of the hospital and I can reflect,” she wrote in the caption.

Elsewhere in her reflection on Instagram, Madonna also added that she appreciated that her children were right by her side during her hospitalization, and so were her friends.

“I saw a side to them I had never seen before. It made all the difference,” she wrote.

In one of the photos, she also held a photo frame that Oseary had gifted her.

“If you zoom into this Picture I am holding You will see A Polaroid taken by Andy Warhol of Keith Haring wearing a jacket with Michael Jackson’s face painted on it. A perfect triangle of Brilliance. Artist who touched so many lives including my own,” she explained. “I sobbed when I opened this gift because I realized how lucky I am to be alive. And how fortunate I am to have known these people and so many others who are also gone.”

On Aug. 16, 2023, Madonna celebrated her 65th Birthday. In a video that she posted on Instagram, the pop star seemed to be back on her feet again, as she celebrated a year older and her recovery from her illness.

“It’s great to be Alive… and Amazing to Be able to put on my dancing shoes and Celebrate my Birthday! 🎉🎉🎉 Im So Grateful. Thank you, Lisbon and to all who made it possible! 🇵🇹♥,” she captioned the post.

In the video, Madonna can be seen with her children, in complete attendance as they spent the singer’s birthday in Lisbon, Portugal.
