Madonna Labeled ‘Desperate For Attention’ For Posting 'Bizarre' Dance Video To Instagram
Feb 17, 2023
Madonna is certainly no stranger to controversy. Over her four-decade-long career, the pop star has weathered a multitude of criticism, disdain, condemnation, and disparagement from the media over everything from her fashion style and her dance moves to her behavior on talk shows. Despite the flak, the "Material Girl" always seemed to come out the other side swinging.
However, after taking to the stage at an awards show in February 2023, her physical appearance has got the world talking – and it's not just the media this time.
Pop icon Madonna has long defied the odds and broken boundaries throughout her career. She is not only a talented singer but an all-around performer, entertainer, actress, and pop culture icon. Madonna has given us plenty of hits, defining the course of pop music and ultimately earning her the moniker the "Queen of Pop."
The '80s were peppered with a plethora of No. 1 hits from the diva, including "Papa Don't Preach," "Like a Prayer," and "Vogue." Her enduring popularity was bolstered by even more successful songs down the road. She saw a resurgence in the late '90s with hits such as "Don't Cry For Me Argentina," "Ray of Light," "Frozen," "Music," and the duet with pop princess Britney Spears, "Me Against The Music."
However, it seemed like people, including her fans and followers on Instagram, have grown to become wary of her Instagram posts. Some even pointed out that she has become unrecognizable because of her face and rather odd actions in her videos and photos.
In one of her Instagram videos, she was dancing along to her 2005 song "Sorry," but instead of people being thrilled with a free performance from the pop icon, fans became worried about her erratic behavior.

Madonna's life has been put under the microscope ever since she blossomed to be a full-blown entertainment icon.
On Feb. 5, 2023, she appeared on stage at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles to introduce Sam Smith and Kim Petras before their performance of "Unholy," which went on to win the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award later that night. In her introduction, Madonna referenced her own divisive legacy.
"If they call you shocking, scandalous, problematic, provocative, or dangerous, you are definitely onto something," she said.
"I am here to give thanks to all the rebels out here forging a new path and taking the heat for all of it. You guys need to know, all you troublemakers out there, you need to know that your fearlessness does not go unnoticed. You are seen. You are heard, and most of all, you are appreciated."
Over to her Instagram account, Madonna has been very public with her artistic expression – either through selfies, outlandish photoshoots, and even dance and lipsync videos.
The star made waves once again following the release of an Instagram video in November 2022. The pop icon mouthed vulgar words to the song "Vent" by Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar.
Many people were thrown off by Madonna's behavior in the clip.
One person commented, "This is like the older generation trying to be cool with the young kids ... Please stop. This looks ridiculous."
Another person said, "I loved this women (sic) so much but she destroying her legacy, she was a leader, now just embarrassing."
Her photos on the media-sharing platform have also sparked debates among fans – saying that she is already unrecognizable by the amount of plastic surgery and customization she did on her face.

In another video she posted on her account on February 2023, Madonna was seen dancing and lipsyncing to "Sorry," a song she released in "Confessions on a Dance Floor."
The singer wore a black silk trenchcoat, baggy pants, and a mesh top paired with her bright orange hair.
The comments section was filled with disdain and surprise from her followers, even pointing out that something was "not right" in the video.
"Possessed maybe? Her first fans were people of my ago now …. And I wouldn't go to her concert now if the tickets were free. What happened?" someone shared.
"What is wrong with you? Are you that desperate for attention? You are very talented we all know that. But you have a real issue with aging," a user asked.
"Madonna looks wasted and out of it - please someone close to her get her help!! She's spiraling out of control - is there no one that can intervene? So sad to watch," another pleaded.
The comments on Madonna's video were not something new. Most of the comments in her old videos were about her appearance and alleged attention-seeking behavior.
In a post addressing her Grammy Awards appearance, Madonna had this to say:
"I have never apologized for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress and I'm not going to start. I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come. I look forward to many more years of subversive behavior - pushing boundaries-Standing up to the patriarchy - and Most of all enjoying my life."
