Little Boy Rescues Bobcat From Forest Fire And Receives 'Thank You' He'll Never Forget

Sep 12, 2018

It’s an unfortunate reality that large areas of the United States have become negatively impacted by the result of an increasing amount of forest fires that have occurred over the last decade. From all over California to the south in Tennessee, even areas of Oregon and Arizona have been affected by the dangerous fires.

Millions of people have been put into danger by these events, but it’s not just humans that have to deal with the consequences. Animals can be severely injured, taken out of their habitat, or even killed by flames of the fire, and it’s important to think about wildlife in these times of need.

Animal suffering is exactly the type of reality that the Kraus family had to deal with when their hometown was hit with a band of destructive wildfires. Fortunately, their house avoided any of the flames, but the wildlife from their area did not have the same fate.

A male member of the Kraus family, named George, found two animals suffering from the deadly impacts of the recent wildfire. The animals he stumbled upon were both a fawn and a wild bobcat. They were struggling to breathe with all of the deadly smoke that surrounded their natural habitat. As a lover of animals and a zealous animal rescuer, George decided to bring both of the animals back to his house in order to give them the strength they needed to return to the wild.

It took no time at all for the wild animals to assimilate themselves with the family’s domesticated pets and earn a place in the family’s hearts. After a few months of taking care of the animal, the bobcat, named Benji, became more like a friend and loved family pet to the Kraus family than he did a wild animal. He surprised the family with how natural his presence felt in their home. Benji began acting like a domestic cat, playing with cat toys, and even enjoying long naps all over the furniture in the house!

Benji is now a house pet for the Kraus family.

He’s been with their family for over a few years now, and it’s a remarkable situation for anyone to witness. However, it’s important to remember the dangers of wild animals. Unless you have significant experience in rescuing animals like George Kraus did, it’s important to remember to allow proper animal rescue groups to take care of the wild animals instead of trying to rescue them yourself.

Videos of the family’s interaction with Benji are amazing to witness, and you’ll have to see this cat’s “thank you” to the family for yourself! Check out this video:

It's clear that Benji is so thankful that this family saved him, and wants to repay them by being the sweetest animal possible! Would you share your house with a bobcat if he was as loving as Benji?
