The singer and designer, who is best known for being the daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, rose to fame through the reality TV series The Osbournes. Kelly Osbourne was only 17 years old when the series began in 2002, so in many ways, she had to grow up in the spotlight.

She experienced a lot of media criticism and scrutiny regarding her weight. She told Shape:

"I was called fat and ugly in the press almost my entire life. I understand that being judged by others comes with the territory, but it broke my heart and ruined my self-esteem."

After years of battling with diets and exercise plans, she decided that 2020 was going to be the year to turn things around.

In an Instagram post from December 2019, she declared: "2020 is going to be the year of me. It's time to put myself first, stop taking on other people's s— and be the badass sober woman I was born to be."

As part of the caption accompanying the photo collage, she wrote:

“2019 has been one hell of a year. In many ways it has been amazing especially in terms of self-growth. In many ways it has been gut-wrenchingly difficult. However through all the good and bad it has been incredibly educational for me. I have come to the realization that I constantly put the needs of others before my own."

A few months ago Osbourne posted a photo of herself to Instagram in a chic Gucci outfit with her signature purple hair, which prompted a lot of comments. The Real co-host Jeannie Mai's mother commented, saying:

“Oh my gosh, you lost a lot of weight.”

Osbourne replied with:

“That’s right mamma Mai I lost 85lbs since I last saw you. Can you believe it?”

According to USA Today, Osbourne also posted an Instagram story featuring a piece of clothing with a tag equivalent to a US size 2. Osbourne was proud that she could wear that size, and felt she's earned the right to brag about it because she "worked hard and it feels good."

Osbourne has been open with fans about working toward a healthier weight since becoming a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. During her time on the show she dieted and lost 20 pounds with the help of her dance partner, Louis van Amstel, who made her "eat turkey burgers and salads and explained to me that a high-protein, low-carb diet would keep me energized." In 2011, she told Shape magazine that she’s "finally learned to do it right. I never thought in a million years I'd be that healthy girl who wakes up every morning to exercise."

Osbourne also discussed the importance of tending to the mental health side of things, as well as the physical. Speaking to the Mirror, she said:

"I went to therapy for the first six months, for about six hours a day. I was like, 'If I’m going to do this, I’m going to really do it'."

Osbourne also confessed to getting a gastric sleeve two years ago, reports The Sun. She revealed the surgery on the Hollywood Raw with Dax Holt and Adam Glyn podcast. "All it does is change the shape of your stomach. I got that almost 2 years ago. I will never ever ever lie about it ever. It is the best thing I have ever done," she said.

Osbourne has also struggled with addiction and believes that her weight gain is partly due to overcoming it. After being discharged from a stint in rehab, she confessed:

"I replaced the drugs with food... I'm an emotional eater. When I get upset, my diet goes out the window."

But after a relapse in 2018, the star made the decision to turn her life around for good. According to the Mirror, when speaking to DJ Fat Tony on his podcast, The Recovery, Osbourne explained that she is now in the best place she has ever been after becoming three years sober. There is no doubt that Osbourne is loving life in her new healthy mindset and size, and long may it continue!

Now that Kelly Osbourne has conquered her demons and is genuinely in the best shape of her life, the sky is the limit for this talented woman who seems to have always been destined for the spotlight. Born on October 27, 1984, in London, England, Kelly Osbourne is the middle child of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. The family moved around a lot while she was young, thanks to her father's rock and roll career, living in over 20 different homes, mostly in the US as well as the UK.

Growing up in the spotlight wasn't always easy as Kelly Osbourne has revealed, but it did give her a taste for the limelight and propel her career forward eventually. Because of this burning ambition, she was able to sidestep one of the big problems that come with being the child of celebrities—laziness and a lack of the right priorities. Speaking with The Guardian in 2009, a then-24-year-old Osbourne said:

"If you look around at girls who are older than me who are children of celebrities, hardly any of them have matured, hardly any of them have grown up to be… I wouldn't say decent human beings, but productive human beings," she says. "They are not bad people; they just don't do anything and I don't want to have a life where I don't have a reason to get out of bed every morning. And a reason to me isn't who I'm having lunch with at Fred Segal."

So with her persistence, she tried on a whole swathe of careers within the entertainment industry, trying to find out what she clicked with most. At the age of 20, she was well known for her trendy and off-kilter style that caught everyone's attention, which led to her first fashion endeavor—a brand named Stiletto Killers. The line focused on her signature rockstar aesthetic and came out with T-shirts, underwear, hoodies, and sweatpants emblazoned with punk rock catchphrases and animated designs. An offshoot of the brand titled the SK Collection focused on a more sophisticated offering of apparel. However, the brand shuttered after only a few years.

It was also around this time that Osbourne flirted with a music career, releasing her debut album called Shut Up in 2002. It included a cover of Madonna's Papa Don't Preach, which fit her transgressive image, but reviews for the record were mixed. Following this, she tried her luck at acting, making her debut in the show Life as We Know It. She continued to act, appearing in various projects, but also began to do live work, hosting the red carpet for multiple iterations of the MTV Awards among other events. This led to work in reality television, where Osbourne hosted select seasons of Project Catwalk and I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! NOW!.

She then appeared on Dancing With the Stars in 2009, placing third. Then in 2011, she was given co-hosting duties on E!'s Fashion Police, before leaving in 2015 after a four-year run. She's since been a guest judge on various shows including RuPaul's Drag Race and Project Runway, and a replacement judge on Australia's Got Talent season 8. A jill-of-all-trades, Kelly Osbourne has really honed her skills in the entertainment arena but seems to have settled in the area of hosting and judging, mostly for television and live events

With a career that's so diverse across the entertainment spectrum, Osbourne has been in the spotlight for about two decades, which is why it's so inspiring to finally see her comfortable in her own skin and absolutely owning it. Speaking to Good Morning America in August 2020 to talk further about her weight loss journey, Osbourne explained:

"I really wanted to fix the things that were broken in me," she said. "I'm not perfect. I still make a lot of mistakes. I have bumps in the road. I fall down. I get back up again. That's just how life works."

She also stated: "People only pick up on your journey when you've arrived at your destination. This has been two years of me working on this and figuring it out." But along her incredible journey, Osbourne has found what matters most in life—it's not a slim figure, it's not being rich and famous, it's self-love. She once told Cosmopolitan Body:

"People think I lost weight and that's what made me happier. That's not true: I had to learn to love myself first. Losing weight was just one benefit of putting the hard work in and sorting myself out on the inside first through therapy. That was one of the scariest times of my life. I swear I’ve never felt more naked, because I had to actually be me and couldn’t mask it.”

Hats off to Kelly Osbourne for her incredible journey to self-love and acceptance. We can't wait to see what the future holds in store for her!
