The 'OG American Idol' Kelly Clarkson has revealed her new album is the "most personal one ever", as it comes amid her divorce with her husband of seven years, Brandon Blackstock, 43. Speaking on Sunday Today With Willie Geist, which will air on Sunday, September 13, the mom-of-two said:
"This next record, this will probably be the most personal one I've ever released," Clarkson revealed. "And the whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship to the end of what it is now or where it is now, and it's been very therapeutic for me. It's very honest."

Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June citing “irreconcilable differences," according to TODAY. The couple share one daughter and one son, River Rose, 6, and son, Remington "Remy", 4, who have already gotten a preview of their mom's new album.
The host of The Kelly Clarkson Show also revealed that River and Remy have been listening to early demos of the songs on car rides and that it is "weird" for them to be singing about their lives. "There’s one that my kids sing in the car because I’m going through mixes," she admitted, "I’m just, like, ‘This is weird.’
"Like, it’s your relationship. I’ve never written about my life to where my kids are singing along. … That’s a little different, but it is what it is."
According to The Sun, Blackstock has agreed to joint legal custody of their kids in his response to Clarkson's divorce petition. As reported by Entertainment Tonight (ET), "she's also asking that her last name legally be restored to Clarkson, after taking Blackstock's last name. Property and asset division are unknown at this time and will be determined at a later date."
A source close to the couple spoke to ET and explained that quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic might have been the deal-breaker in their relationship. The source said that the couple "had been having problems for several months and were making a conscious effort to work things out." They both hoped that doing quarantine in their ranch in Montana (instead of Los Angeles) would help them work things out in their marriage, "but instead the change in environment was actually detrimental." Furthermore, they added that spending so much time together is what made their situation worse in the end.
