Kathie Lee Gifford Shares Photos Of Precious Moments Cradling Newborn Grandchild

Kathie Lee Gifford is a proud grandmother and has shown this in more ways than one. On May 31, 2023, the French-born American television presenter and actress celebrated her first grandchild, Frank “Frankie” Michael Gifford’s one-year birthday. Frankie is the first child of Kathie’s son, Cody Gifford, and his wife, Erika. Since Frankie’s birth last year, Kathie has been doting on him and always enjoys being in his presence. 

Now, Kathie is celebrating another addition to her growing family as her daughter, Cassidy Gifford, welcomed her new baby boy. 

Kathie is a woman of many talents and positive attributes, and she has become one of the most successful women in the television industry. Her exceptional talents spread across the board, from singing and songwriting to acting and even writing. Kathie is most known for her jobs as a television presenter on multiple morning shows, including “Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee” and the “Today” show.

Kathie has had her fair share of success, love, and heartbreak, as she has been through quite a lot in her personal life over the long course of her incredible career. Despite all of the challenges she has faced, Kathie has kept a smile on her face and has continued to exceed people’s expectations in the entertainment industry. She lost her husband in 2015 but has been fortunate enough to find love once again. The memory of her late husband, Frank Gifford, continues to live on in their two children together, who have grown to be just like their famous parents.

Following the birth of her first grandson, Kathie appeared on the Today Show and spoke to Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager about being a grandma and spending time with Frankie. During the interview, Kathie, who had an 11-year run on the show with Kotb, revealed that she would love her grandson to call her “Bubbie.” 

In a previous appearance on the show, Kathie disclosed how she arrived at the moniker. She said her friend had an Israeli mother who inspired her to want to be called Bubbie. Kathie revealed that she asked the woman what a good word for a Jewish grandmother was, and she replied, “Bubbalah. It’s Bubbie.” 

Kathie also revealed that Bubbie means dearest one or cherished one. With that description, Kathie felt it was a no-brainer for Frankie, who is named after her late husband and NFL legend Frank, to call her Bubbie. 

“And a little kid only goes, ‘Buh, buh, buh, buh, buh,’ anyway. I think it’s going to be easy. Bubbie,” she added. 

Gifford also discussed her son’s decision to name Frankie after his late dad. She admitted that it caught her off guard but made sense to her. The TV presenter explained: 

“I was surprised Cody named him after his dad because Cody knew what it was like to grow up in the shadow of a great man. But I guess he’s never gotten over, really, and he never will, the loss of his dad at an early age and he was his hero and he still is.” 

In addition to her preferred grandma moniker and Frankie’s name, Gifford revealed that her grandson arrived about three weeks early. Despite Frankie’s early arrival, his grandma said he came at the perfect time when God wanted it. 

On Jun. 24, 2023, Cassidy gave birth to the newest addition to the Gifford family – Finn Thomas Weirda, her first child with her husband, Ben Weirda. 

“Our whole entire world. Finn Thomas Wierda 6.24.2023. We are so madly in love with you, buddy. Thank you, Lord for this most precious gift,” she posted on Instagram on Jul. 1, 2023, along with a photo of Finn’s little feet cradled in her hands. 

Erika, Cody’s wife, also commented on the birth of their nephew: “Little buddy 🥹 Love our precious nephew so much 🤍”

Sports commentator Jill Martin also took the time to welcome Finn. “Our family has a new member. Baby finn we love you! 😍” she wrote. 

Kathie was one of the first to comment and celebrate the arrival of little Finn. In her comment, she said: 

“Cassidy, you and Ben are a wonder. The love you have for each other is so beautifully expressed in the way you care for your newborn Finn, who is the best of both of you! Praise our loving LORD Who is the God of family! I am beyond rejoicing with you, and for you!🙏🏻🐑🎶,” she wrote. 

Aside from them, some fans and longstanding followers of the Gifford family also cheered on the arrival of Finn. 

“❤️😍 Watching you and Cody grow through the years and now another generation to admire of Kathylee Franks family,” someone posted. 

“I’m so happy for you and your family Kathy Lee, I remember the day Cody was born, and the day Cassidy was born. It seems like only yesterday, and now here you are with their babies. It’s a wonderful world, isn’t it,” another shared. 

Since Finn’s birth, Kathie has been doting on the latest bundle of joy, as proven by the touching photos she has shared. On July 2, 2023, she posted a picture of her cradling little Finn in her arms as she stared lovingly down at him. The caption read:

“What a joy to spend sweet time with baby FINN. I am the most blessed of women. It seems! Happy Fourth of July everybody.”

At the time, her former “Today” show colleague Al Roker piped in and commented, “Right behind you, KLG. Ours is due tomorrow.” The long-time weatherman and television personality welcomed his first grandchild on July 3, 2023.

Another fan congratulated Kathie and wrote, “Isn’t being a “Grammy” just the best?! It suits you beautifully, God Bless you and your family 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻”

It was clear that “Bubbie” was having a blast with little baby Finn as Kathie again shared another photo of her cradling her grandchild a few days later, on July 14, 2023. The photo showed the infant snuggled in some cozy blankets while the caption read:

“So blessed to spend the afternoon with my precious little Finn.”

Her daughter also jumped in to say in the comments just how much she, too, appreciated the time grandma and grandchild could spend together.

“We loved having our Bubbie over ♥️” Cassidy wrote.

Her fans were just as thrilled for Kathie and took to the comments to show it. “This is the best club you could ever be in. 💙🙏” one user wrote, while another said, “Grandparenting is the most beautiful time ! Enjoy every minute and phase of his life. God bless you and him!❤️”
