Kate Middleton Wows In Late Princess Diana's Favorite Tiara For State Dinner With Donald Trump

Jun 04, 2019

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton rocked the famous Lover's Knot Tiara, a favorite of the late Princess Diana's, at Buckingham Palace for the State Dinner on Monday. The U.S. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were guests of honor for the royal occasion, however, it was Kate Middleton's ensemble that stole the show.

Arriving with U.S. Secretary of Treasury Steven Mnuchin by her side, Kate wore a white Alexander McQueen gown to the dinner. She placed the gown with a red, white, and blue sash of the Royal Victorian Order over the gown according to etonline.com. Kate accessorized her look with Queen Mother's sparkling sapphire and diamond fringe earrings.

But it was Kate's Lover's Knot Tiara that shined through the evening.

Also known as the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara, this crown is one of the most well-known tiaras of the British royal family mostly because of it being the late Princess Diana's favorite sparkler. The last time Kate Middleton wore the tiara was in December at the Queen's Diplomatic Corps reception according to elle.com. The tiara contains 19 archers, and 38 drop-shaped-pearls, 19 of which hang and 19 that stand upright but are able to be removed.

Other attendees of the dinner included Kate's husband Prince William along with Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Camilla, and Theresa May. Many of President Trump's family were also in attendance with Ivanka Trump, Lara Trump and Tiffany Trump looking well-dressed for the occasion. Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle were not in attendance at the State Dinner.

Both President Trump and the Queen made speeches during the evening about their countries' long-standing alliance. They each expressed the shared values and history of their nations and how it is important to continue this coalition.
