Kate Middleton Set To Attend Wimbledon Women’s And Men’s Finals After Leaving Self-Isolation
Jul 09, 2021
After coming into contact with someone who tested COVID positive, Kate Middleton went into self-isolation on July 2, 2021. However, Express UK has reported that Kate will be able to attend the Wimbledon Finals which are set to take place on July 10 and 11, 2021. She will be attending the women's final with Prince William on Saturday, and the men's final on her own on Sunday. William is set to attend the EURO 2020 soccer game taking place on Sunday instead of the Wimbledon match.
However, since the duchess had gone into quarantine less only a week prior to the upcoming matches, many fans are left wondering how Kate has been able to leave her self-isolation period and attend the matches. About this, Daily Mail reported that it is likely that Kate was exposed to the COVID-positive person earlier than July 2. Kensington Palace released a statement saying that Kate's self-isolation will have already ended by Saturday.
The Duchess of Cambridge was also unable to attend a service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, as well as a Big Tea garden party scheduled at Buckingham Palace that she was supposed to host together with her husband Prince William on July 5, 2021.
Kate, who has tested negative so far immediately entered isolation upon learning of the predicament. After the announcement, Kensington Palace did not reveal where or when exactly the Duchess came in contact with someone positive. The statement had suggested that it could have most likely happened during her visit to Wimbledon on Friday.
Daily Mail reported that Kate has already received both vaccinations. She also took two lateral flow tests before attending the England vs Germany soccer game at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday, 28th June. She was tested again on Friday, the day she came into contact with the COVID-positive person, just before she visited Wimbledon. Both tests were negative.
According to the Daily Mail, a palace source stated Kate was "sad" to miss the events that marked the 73rd anniversary of the NHS. Her last public event was last week: a Wimbledon visit on Friday during which she toured the venue, met staff in the attached museum and sat with former tennis star Tim Henman while watching Jamie Murray play in the doubles. Kate herself is a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club and a big tennis fan. Previously, it was believed that she was very likely to miss the Men's and Women's Wimbledon final, this is now no longer the case.
As a senior royal with many social obligations and events, Kate is tested twice weekly with lateral flow tests in accordance with the Royal Household testing regime. This is meant to catch any Covid exposure that might slip through the gaps. Her husband William went onto join the other guests, including leading figures for the NHS pandemic response as well as several hundred members of frontline NHS staff, and former patients, and attended the event that Kate had to miss.
He also went on to host the NHS Big Tea on the grounds of Buckingham Palace which paid tribute to the hard work of NHS staff who have gone above and beyond during the pandemic.

William is able to still attend both events because the British government guidelines state that contacts of contacts are not required to isolate themselves. William already contracted Covid last spring, when he was able to carry on his royal work via telephone and online sessions while he received treatment from royal doctors. However, he was reportedly hit "pretty hard" by the virus, at one stage even struggling to breathe properly. However, William recovered well enough and has been quite busy with royal duties for the last year. He has also received both vaccinations against COVID-19.
Recently, William was seen at the England vs Germany soccer match with his mini-me, Prince George. George is clearly taking after his father in many ways and the young boy looked quite dapper as he donned a beautifully made suit that matched his father's at the match. He was seen excitedly supporting England during the Euro 2020 Championships. Kate and William treated George to an after-school surprise by bringing him along for the event according to Express UK.
This event was also the first time that Kate joined William for an England game. All three members of the family were seen conversing with each other throughout the game, and their joy when England defeated Germany was shared by English fans across the world. William had returned from his Scotland trip earlier on the day, where he had joined Queen Elizabeth to meet the team building HMS Glasgow at a shipyard.
It has been a busy few months for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with the large number of royal engagements that have taken up, but it will be a great break for them to enjoy the Wimbledon and EURO 2020 final this weekend.
We are glad that Kate Middleton is okay and can attend the Wimbledon finals. Will you be watching any of the matches this weekend? Let us know, and be sure to pass this onto your friends as well.
