June ‘Mama June’ Shannon Gets Married To Husband Again 11 Months After Courthouse Ceremony

Mar 02, 2023

Most people are familiar with the story of Alana Thompson, best known by her television name Honey Boo Boo. She and her family first began appearing on television back in 2011, when Alana was just 5 years old, on the TLC series “Toddlers & Tiaras.” Thompson found great success on the show as she was seen as a victor in the children’s beauty pageant circuit.

Thompson and the rest of her family – specifically her mother – stood out amongst the rest and were great for entertaining, leaving people wanting to know more about the Shannon family. TLC gave the family their very own TV show called “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” featuring Thompson, her mom, and her siblings, as well as other extended family members and friends.

The show lasted for a couple of years, first airing in August 2012 and wrapping up in August 2014. The family’s entertaining yet controversial ways continued to intrigue people, leading them to star in a handful of spin-off series as well as other television programs.

What many people have since come to learn about is the life story of June Shannon, who is famously known as Mama June. Shannon has found herself in a number of troubling situations over the years, ultimately leading to the demise of various TV shows starring herself and her family members.

However, she has also found love. Back in June 2022, Shannon announced that she had gotten married in March of that year to her partner, Justin Stroud. And in February 2023, the two walked down the aisle once again – this time in a stunning fairytale wedding.

Shannon, also known as Mama June, has had a challenging life. She became pregnant with her first daughter, Anna Cardwell, at the age of 14, giving birth just days after she turned 15. She went on to have two more daughters, Jessica Shannon and Lauryn Efird. Shannon’s youngest is Thompson, who was born in 2005.

In March 2019, E! News reported that Shannon was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Shannon and her then-boyfriend Geno Doak also faced charges of alleged domestic violence in the third degree.

The pair had been together for three years and appeared to be moving in a better direction together. Shannon even tweeted about her show’s “most outrageous moment” being “getting (Geno) to possibly marry me, so we’re going to see what happens this season so let’s get to watching now.”

Shannon made several changes afterward, losing weight and mending relationships with her children. She also began dating tattoo artist Justin Stroud.

In June 2022, Shannon went to Instagram to share the news that she and Stroud had gotten married on Mar. 23, 2022, celebrating their 6-month anniversary. She admitted it was a “spur of the moment” decision, but the pair stayed married and even walked down the aisle again almost a year later.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Shannon and Stroud got married in a courthouse in Georgia in 2022. Their 2023 wedding was quite different. It was an intimate ceremony in Panama City, Florida, that was filmed for “Mama June: Family Crisis.” All of Shannon’s family attended the ceremony, including her daughter and her grandchildren.

The newlyweds had a wedding cake, which consisted of six different flavors, and swayed to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” for their first dance.

Shannon was overwhelmed by the support. "This was the first time the family had all been together since 2014 so it was really special to get married in a place where my family and I have had so many memories!" she shared.

She continued, "We wanted to have a small and very intimate wedding, so we didn’t have any groomsmen or bridesmaids. All four of my girls walked me down to Justin and his mom walked him down the aisle."

This was a big change from Shannon’s first wedding to Stroud. Efird said she first learned about her mom’s marriage after she received a letter from the Georgia courthouse. Shannon later denied it at a custody hearing. "We got out to the parking lot and said, 'Well congratulations on being married, I got the receipt in the mail' and she was like, 'No, no, no, I didn't get married. I didn't get married,’” Efird said.

Thompson added, “I wasn't hurt. I was more shocked because my mama always said that she would never get married and that she would never go off and just get married with somebody."

Fortunately, the family moved past their differences to celebrate. Shannon went to Instagram on Feb. 21, 2023, to share some clips from her big day and all the “AMAZINGNESS” it encapsulated. “What a wonderful weekend for sure,” she wrote.

The same day, Stroud shared a beautiful photo of himself and his new wife looking lovingly at each other. He encouraged fans to celebrate his and Shannon’s wedding day by tuning in to “Mama June: Family Crisis” on May 5, 2023. “We’re back!!!! Tune in May 5 on WeTV to share our special day!!!” he wrote.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
