Judge Judy And Her Husband Jerry Sheindlin Really Have The Cutest Love Story
Jun 19, 2019
Judge Judy, the iconic daytime TV courtroom show host, has been on TV for 5,200 episodes and counting. She was also 2018’s highest paid TV host with $147 million according to Forbes. It might be said that behind each great woman, there’s a man. In this case, by her side for her many achievements is her husband Jerry Sheindlin.
Judy Sheindlin was first married to Ronald Levy and quickly met Jerry shortly after their divorce. In fact, according to Judy’s interview in Dujour, it was only 3 weeks afterward. She met her current husband at a bar by walking right up to him and saying, in true Judge Judy style, “And who is this?” to which he replied, “Lady, get your finger out of my face.” It was love at first sight.

They started to date and in 1978, they got married. She told Dujour that she actually was the one who proposed:
“I said to him, ‘Where is this relationship going?’ And he tried to weasel out of it, with his, ‘Well, you know, why do we have to get married?’ Whatever. He finally capitulated. I told him to pick a date. He picked Flag Day.”
The cuteness doesn’t stop there. They had three children and both had careers in the legal world and it seemed like the world was their oyster. Jerry even had a short stint as a judge on “The People’s Court,” following the footsteps of his TV judge wife, Yahoo reports.
But then tragedy struck and Judy’s father passed away. Jerry wasn’t as supportive as he could have been and they hit a rough patch that they couldn’t get out of. So, the couple got divorced. But then one year later they got remarried. She told the FOX News show OBJECTified, it was simply because “I missed him.”
Now their three kids are all grown up—Gregory is 55, Jonathan is 52, and Nicole is 51—and the two have a little bit more time to spend with just each other. But Judge Judy shows no sign of slowing down, Broadcasting & Cable reports that her show will be renewed until 2021. With Jerry by her side, Judge Judy Sheindlin has many more proceedings to reside over in her court.
