Johnny Depp’s Son Jack Is Turning Into The Actor’s Mini-Me In Photo Shared By Daughter Lily-Rose

One of Hollywood's most iconic actors is "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp. He has appeared in several of director Tim Burton's films throughout his illustrious career, including "Edward Scissorhands," "Sleepy Hollow," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Alice in Wonderland." Johnny is widely regarded as one of the world's most famous movie stars and was listed as the highest-paid actor by Guinness World Records in 2012. 

Johnny dropped out of high school and began his career as a musician before moving into acting. He made his movie debut in 1984 with the horror film "A Nightmare on Elm Street." The actor then went on to become a household name with his success on the television series "21 Jump Street." Some of the star's other notable films include "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," "Benny & Joon," "Chocolat" and "Donnie Brasco." 

In his personal life, Johnny has been married and divorced twice. He has also had long-term relationships with other women, including Winona Ryder, Kate Moss and Vanessa Paradis, who is the mother of his two children. Paradis and Johnny were together from 1998 to 2012.

Johnny has been on the receiving end of negative publicity, especially after his private life started unfolding in public. In 2015, he married Amber Heard, but she filed for a divorce in 2016, accusing Johnny of abuse. Paradis and some of the actor's colleagues were among the people who defended Johnny and described him as a decent person who was not abusive.

In 1998, Johnny met French actress and singer Paradis while in France filming “The Ninth Gate.” He recalled the moment in an interview with Daily Mail. For him, it was "love at first sight." "She was wearing a dress with an exposed back," Johnny recalled, adding, "and I saw that back and that neck, and then she turned around and I saw those eyes, and — boom."

"My life as a single man was done" he recounted. 

Johnny went further to describe the feeling he had looking at Paradis. "You have this feeling — I can't really explain what it was, but I had it when I met her," he recalled. "I saw her across a room and thought: "What's happening to me."

Their whirlwind romance lasted for 14 years, and although the couple never wed, they welcomed two children together.

In an interview with Extra, Johnny explained why he and Paradis never wed. "Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart," he told the outlet. "You don't need somebody to say, OK you're married."

Although Johnny's relationship with Paradis ended in 2012, the actor still speaks fondly of his former love. "She's a great mother and a great woman," he said. "And when you've got a woman who's been good to you, who you have a couple of kids with, you don't just abandon ship. The love may change, but you keep loving her, no matter what."

The pair share two children, daughter Lily-Rose Depp and son John Christopher Depp III, or “Jack” for short. While Lily-Rose has gone on to start a burgeoning career as the next Hollywood "it" girl, Jack has instead shied away from the spotlight and keeps a low public figure.  

While Lily-Rose and Jack are close now, they were just like all other siblings when they were younger. Speaking to Kiera Knightley for Interview Magazine, Lily-Rose said: "My brother and I are three years apart, so there were moments where we overlapped at the same school. Not that he wanted anything to do with me. He was like, 'Don’t even come talk to me with your friends.' And I was like, 'You don’t want the cool older girls to come talk to you? What’s wrong with you?' But we’re best buds now."

Jack had a relatively regular upbringing despite both his parents being so famous. He split his time between Paris, where his mother is from, and Los Angeles, where Johnny works, according to The List. Both Jack and his sister Lily-Rose are also bilingual.

Lily-Rose added:

"When my brother and I were at the same school, whenever we wanted to say something that was going to stay just between us, we could say it in French and nobody would understand."

Over the years, Johnny has spoken about his son and how proud he is of his boy. Johnny spoke about Jack's interests as a teenager to the Inquirer: "My boy Jack has always been a very talented draftsman. He draws really super well. He also plays music very well. He’s got a good feel for that. Aside from school plays and things, he hasn’t shown any desire to become an actor. Whew!"

Unlike her brother, Lily-Rose had known that she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps into the acting world early on. Just because Jack did not express this desire early on does not mean that he did not want to be like his dad, however. 

Johnny said in an interview with Rolling Stone that one particular incident cemented the love he has for his son Jack. In a conversation he had with Jack, the movie star had asked his son what he wanted with his life. And when Jack said he had already formed a band, the star, who loves music and has even been featured in Alice Cooper's Hollywood Vampires, revealed that this melted his heart because he realized that his son was following in his footsteps.

Every dad is happy when he sees that his children admire what he does with his life and that they would like to take after him. No wonder Johnny has so many good things to say about his son Jack, who once appeared in "Yoga Hosers," a 2016 Kevin Smith film in which Lily-Rose also starred.

Though glimpses into Jack's life have been few and far between, there have been times when the public sees him and is taken aback by his resemblance to his father. One such instance was when Lily-Rose uploaded a photograph of Jack to commemorate his 18th birthday in April 2020. Viewers were taken aback by how much Jack has taken after Johnny! Jack even had the same high cheekbones his father is famous for, as well as a head of tousled brown hair. There have been very few photos of Jack since this post, however. 

Jack has chosen to stay in a more private light, especially as his father has been involved in a highly publicized trial with his ex-wife Heard. The List wrote that with "Jack's tendency to avoid media attention, it's unlikely he will make a direct statement regarding the lawsuit."
