Actor John Stamos is a beloved television star, best known for his role as Jesse Katsopolis on the hit sitcom "Full House." From 1987 to 1995, fans would curl up around their TVs and swoon over Uncle Jesse. Stamos also had a starring role on the primetime drama series "ER," where he portrayed Dr. Tony Gates. Beginning in 2016, Stamos reprised his role of Uncle Jesse and began appearing in "Fuller House," which he also produced.
Stamos was born in Cypress, California, in 1963, and his family's original surname was Stamatopoulos. The actor has always had a love for music. He has been playing the drums since he was 4, and later in life, he began learning to play the guitar and started his own band called Destiny. The band even had the chance to perform at some amusement parks and parties.
Stamos' love for music can be seen through his character in "Full House." Uncle Jesse idolized Elvis the same way Stamos does in real life. On the show, you could often see Stamos playing the guitar and performing Elvis Presley and The Beach Boys songs. Stamos has had a long history of performing with the Beach Boys and even appeared in their video for the song "Kokomo."
Stamos used to attract all the ladies with his undeniable charisma and good looks, but right now, he’s busy being a father to his amusing 5-year-old son, Billy. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Stamos revealed how his little boy has already developed a sense of humor that got everyone on Instagram laughing. Even with all of his success as an actor, it seems that the role Stamos wished to play all his life was as a father. Even while he played Uncle Jesse, it was clear that he had the dad gene in him. In fact, his co-stars on "Full House," Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin, told People Magazine that Stamos was the "baby whisperer" of the cast.
Well, thankfully, he found the perfect woman in his wife, Caitlin McHugh. In the same interview with Entertainment Tonight, he described McHugh as a "gentle, kind, graceful soul who would be a good mother."
Stamos and McHugh tied the knot in February 2018 and welcomed Billy two months later in April 2018.
Since Billy's birth, Stamos seems to have really, truly embraced his role as a father. As Billy has grown up, Stamos fans have gotten to watch the actor tackle the different milestones of parenthood. In September 2022, it came time for the younger Stamos to head off to school.
Aside from his official start in education, Stamos shared his excitement with People Magazine about how his son also became a Disney fan like his parents.
"It's wonderful to see Billy get excited about stuff now. We took him (to the Disney parks) a bunch (when he was younger). I think he went there when he wasn't even a year old yet because I was working down there and we all went," he shared.
Stamos also revealed that Billy is “definitely a Disney kid” because he loves to watch “Coco” and “Moana,” two of Disney’s best-selling animated films.

In an interview with Fallon on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Stamos dished that he had an adorable bonding moment with his son Billy while watching television. "I say, 'Do you want to watch That's My Jam?' Finally I thought, 'He’s going to like that show,' because he watches Full House but he mocks me for it," he told Fallon, who was also the host of the game show. Notably, Stamos was in one episode of “That’s My Jam” with Taraji P. Henson.
At one point, Stamos asked his son to put away his toys, but Billy had this to say: “You got it, dude!” — a reference to the iconic catchphrase in “Full House.” The entire studio roared with laughter, especially Fallon, who was floored by the funny interaction. “I love this kid!” he quipped.
Over on Instagram, many of Stamos fans took to the comments and lauded little Billy’s sense of humor.
“Sounds like his son has a great sense of humor. Haha too cute 😂❤️,” someone commented.
“You got it dude 🤣 priceless ♥️🙂💜💜💜💜⭐️⭐️💜💜💜,” another posted.
“😂😂😂 you are forever uncle Jesse and billy is so cute he has your personality the next super star for television,” a fan suggested.
“I haven't watched Full House in years! John Stamos doesn't age! ❤️❤️❤️,” another praised.
As Stamos continued his story, Fallon was more thrilled at how perceptive the kid is.
"So, we put on That's My Jam and (Billy) watches it and goes, 'You're cheating,'" he shared. "I'm not cheating — I was not!"
But Fallon seemed to agree with Billy’s claim, as he showed everyone a photo of Stamos cheating a game of charades on “That’s My Jam,” leaving everyone in the studio in stitches.
