John Karlen Of 'Cagney & Lacey' And 'Dark Shadows' Has Died At Age 86

The actor John Karlen known for his roles in ‘Cagney & Lacey’ and ‘Dark Shadows’ has passed away at the age of 86.
The AP reports that he died from congestive heart failure at a hospice in Burbank, California on Wednesday, and a fan account on Twitter notes that he was suffering from some health setbacks in the past years. He was a prolific TV actor most known for his roles as Harvey Lacey in the iconic cop show ‘Cagney & Lacey,’ and the rascally Willie Loomis in the spook show ‘Dark Shadows.’

The Brooklyn-born actor started his career with a Tennessee Williams play on Broadway and continued on to gain more than 100 roles, including regular appearances on ‘Murder, She Wrote,’ ‘Charlie’s Angels,’ and ‘Hill Street Blues.’
From his work on ‘Cagney & Lacey’ from 1982-1988, playing policewoman Mary Beth Lacey’s husband, he won an Emmy as best supporting actor in a drama in 1986.
His last role was in the 1996 movie ‘Cagney & Lacey: True Convictions.’ John Karlen is survived by his son Adam.
