Jeremy Renner Shares Video Of Himself Finally Walking Again Months After His Nearly Fatal Snowplow Accident
Apr 05, 2023
Jeremy Renner is an award-winning actor known for being in various action films. Starting in the industry in the independent film scene, Renner was known for his outstanding portrayal in “Dahmer” and “Neo Ned.” He then took on supporting roles in bigger films like “S.W.A.T.” and “28 Weeks Later.”
But what springboarded Renner into international recognition was when he was cast as Sergeant First Class William James in “The Hurt Locker,” as well as a criminal with a hot temper in “The Town.” Both films earned Renner Academy Award nominations for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.
Most of the films he has starred in were adventure, action and thriller films, which require him to be mobile and flexible. Most notably, he captured a huge fanbase when he became the superhero Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe starting in “Thor” and “The Avengers.” He was also in “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” “The Bourne Legacy,” “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters,” “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation,” “American Hustle,” “Arrival” and “Wind River,” among many others.
Given his action-star branding, it was very heartbreaking to hear when Renner experienced a near-death accident with a snowplow machine at his home in January 2023. An "extremely large" snowcat weighing more than 14,000 pounds ran over Renner, instantaneously disabling him from becoming mobile.
Three months after his traumatic accident, Renner gave his longtime fans hope that he could return to doing action stunts again as he posted a video of him regaining his ability to walk.

According to CNN, Renner experienced blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries after suffering from a snowplow accident on New Year’s Day 2023.
“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve, and the Carano and Murdock families. They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans,” the Renner Family spokesperson said in a statement following the actor’s accident.
Renner was airlifted by a helicopter and was rushed to the hospital, given the severity of his accident. According to the 911 call log obtained by the outlet, Renner was “crushed” while moaning loudly and was seriously bleeding. He has since undergone two surgeries and was placed in the intensive care unit to recuperate.
Days later, Renner took to Instagram and posted a very reassuring selfie of himself that showed he was alive and regaining the needed strength to overcome the situation.
“Thank you all for your kind words,” he posted along with a photo of himself in his hospital bed. “I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”
On Jan. 17, 2023, the actor was discharged from the hospital but was expected to undergo therapy to continue his recovery.
In another Instagram post, Renner shared an update about his condition, in which he thanked his supporters again for the love and support he has received throughout his recovery. He also revealed that he had broken 30 plus bones during the incident, but he remained optimistic and said he “will mend” and “grow stronger.”

In a 15-second video uploaded to his own Twitter account on March 26, 2023, Renner gave a substantial update that renewed the hope of his fans about him getting back to the game.
Right before he got into the accident, Renner starred as Mayor Mike McLusky on Paramount+’s “Mayor of Kingstown.” In the same month of his accident, the show was renewed for a second season, which would need Renner to get back to work as soon as possible for the show’s production to advance.
In the video, Renner was seen walking again after being “crushed” in the snowplow accident. Walking slowly at a pace on a special treadmill, Renner was seen encased in what seemed to be a belt holding and supporting him.
“I now have to find OTHER things to occupy my time so my body can recover from my will. #minduful #intended #recovery,” he captioned his post.
Well-wishers of Renner flocked into the comments section to support him on his road to recovery.
“So glad to see rehab is going well. Absolute miracle,” a user proclaimed.
“Finally, we can see you on your two feet. This is the greatest, happiest news since the terrible accident. What a willpower,” another shared.
“Very happy you didn't lose your leg because, one, it's sucks, but two, you would have taken all of my film and television work from me! Stay strong, stay two-legged!!” someone commented.
Aside from the video, Renner will be having a one-on-one interview with Diane Sawyer as he speaks out about the grisly accident, which turned out to be an effort to save his own nephew from the seven-ton machine – talk about a real superhero!
