Jennifer Lopez Flaunts Tattoo She Got In Tribute To Ben Affleck

A-list celebrity couples are always fun to keep up with, and one of the quintessential pairs is Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, also known by the portmanteau "Bennifer." The term is one of the first instances of a couple's names being used this way. 

Both artists are known for their illustrious careers. Affleck is an actor and filmmaker, while Lopez is a singer and actress. The two met in 2001 on the set of the film "Gigli." They began dating in 2002 and were engaged to be married in 2003. But sadly, their wedding was postponed, and then the pair decided to split in 2004. 

After their breakup in 2004, they went on to marry other people. Lopez married Marc Anthony the same year she and Affleck split; however, they divorced in 2014. Meanwhile, Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005, and they were together until 2018.

In 2021, after Lopez and Affleck became single again, they decided to get back together. Lopez confirmed they were dating in a social media post in July of that year. And just one year later, in July 2022, Bennifer finally tied the knot and officially became husband and wife. After their union, the couple moved in together and started a blended family with their children from their previous marriages. 

The love between Lopez and Affleck has continued to blossom so much that she got a tattoo dedicated to their union. In an Instagram photo shared on June 15, 2023, the actress flashed the tattoo in a modeling shot. In the same week, Page Six reporters captured Affleck’s ex-wife, Garner, in a public embrace with her longtime boyfriend, John Miller.

When Affleck and Lopez were first engaged in 2003, the pair made headlines for being in love but so different from each other. However, they said that they actually have more in common than some might think. Lopez said:

"We've talked about this so many times. And we talked about how people kind of see him with one type of person and me with another type of person, and the two of us together is like 'How did that happen?' and how we're probably more alike and from the same kind of background and, you know, same kind of upbringing and same kind of family and same kind of house."

As a romantic at heart, Lopez especially felt the love between her and Affleck. "I am such a kind of artist in that way, you know, just such a flutter bug in that way," she said. "Where it's just like, you know, the idea of love and fairy tales and romance and all that."

Sadly, the pair had to postpone their wedding in 2003 because of security concerns. They shared a statement at the time: “Due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding, we have decided to postpone the date. When we found ourselves seriously contemplating hiring three separate ‘decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realized that something was awry.”

The statement continued: “We began to feel that the spirit of what should have been the happiest day of our lives could be compromised. We felt what should have been a joyful and sacred day could be spoiled for us, our families, and our friends.” 

But all of a sudden, they were over by early 2004. Fortunately, it’s easy to see now that their story wasn't finished.

Although many fans have also expressed how happy they are that Lopez and Affleck were finally able to make their relationship a committed one, some people were skeptical when the couple first announced that they had gotten back together.

Merely a month was spent between Lopez calling it off with professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez and getting back together with her former flame.

Us Weekly spoke to an insider source who gave insights into the speedy development of the stars’ love affair. The source said:

"They're well aware some cynics still look at it as a big flashy attention grab and roll their eyes at the speed of it all, but it doesn't faze them one iota. They're fully committed to taking the next steps and spending the rest of their lives together."

The source also added that the relationship did not feel rushed for Lopez and Affleck. Apparently, the couple slotted into each other's lives seamlessly, almost as if they had never been apart for a couple of years.

"It feels like they've been together again for years, not months. As far as they're both concerned, they're just blessed to have found each other and discovered true love, which most people can only ever dream about,” the source explained.

Regarding the blending of their families, the source said that family and kids mean “everything” to Lopez, and the singer wants nothing more than to “respect” Garner as much as possible. "She's more than willing to be patient and do this at a pace that's comfortable to all parties, there's no rush,” the source shared.

Although the first round of Affleck and Lopez’s relationship did not end with a happy ending, the Us Weekly source said that they both feel that "there's not a single doubt in their mind(s) that this is (not) going to work. Everything that went wrong in the past can only serve them in a positive way this time around."

In 2021, the couple got back together and were seen showing affection to one another at the gym. An insider shared with PEOPLE, "They were holding hands, hugging, kissing. They weren't trying to hide the fact that they were together. They are very much into each other and being together."

While they were in a long-distance relationship during the early stages of their rekindled romance, the couple made a great effort to see each other. Another source said, "They will travel back and forth as much as they can to make things work. They don't want to hide anymore. They are both excited about their relationship. They want to make sure they do everything they can to make this work. Jennifer is incredibly happy. She feels like she can just be herself around Ben."

And finally, Bennifer fully committed to each other. On July 16, 2022, Lopez and Affleck finally tied the knot, becoming husband and wife! According to NBC News, the couple obtained their marriage license in Clark County, Nevada, that same day and wed in Las Vegas.

Lopez shared the news on social media and in her newsletter. She wrote, “We did it.” 

Affleck is a stepfather to Lopez's twins and a father to his own three children with Garner. Despite their divorce, Affleck has maintained his respect for his former wife, Garner. During his appearance on "The Howard Stern Show," Affleck explained how his mutual respect for Garner laid the foundation of their new relationship following their divorce.

"Did we have moments of tension? Did we have disagreements over the custody? Was stuff difficult for us? Did we get angry? Yes," he said. "But fundamentally, it was always underpinned with respect. I knew she was a good mom. I hope that she knew that I was a good dad. I was."

For Affleck, fatherhood always comes first. He even confessed that the most crucial thing in his life was his children. In an interview with PEOPLE, Affleck stated that his children were the focal point of his life.

"My life right now is focused on, for sure, being a dad, and that's the most important thing to me," Affleck said.

His eldest, Violet, is almost the spitting image of her mother. Seraphina Rose came second, and Samuel, their youngest, has even passed double digits in age. With the addition of Lopez's two kids, the family grew bigger and happier. 

For some who may not know, Lopez has two children – fraternal twins, Emme and Maximilian.

Lopez says she loves her twins and how they help balance out her life. She also really likes how deeply bonded the two children are. Her busy schedule means her family acts as the primary caregivers for her kids; she refuses to hire a nanny. Thankfully, she has some help from Affleck. 

During an interview with TODAY, Lopez spoke fondly about her beautiful children, who are growing up to become just as effervescent as she is.

"They're becoming adults. They are challenging everything in life, they're looking at everything. And these kids have so much information, so much more than we had. So they're thinking and talking about things and about life in a different way than I did when I was 15 or 16 years old," Lopez discussed.

Elsewhere in the interview, she gushed about how her husband, Affleck, has become an important part of her children's lives. 

"They love Ben," she told Hoda Kotb in the interview. "He's a wonderful, wonderful father and father figure to them as well 'cause he has his own three beautiful children and then there's us."

Not only has Affleck proven to be a great father to his own kids, but he has also stepped up to be there for Lopez’s kids as well. Lopez noted that the "Batman" actor was "fantastic" and has stepped up to the challenge of being a stepfather. "They appreciate him and so do I," she continued.

Her mother, on the other hand, was a solid Bennifer fan through and through. In another TODAY interview, Lopez's mother, Guadalupe Rodríguez, confessed that she has "prayed for 20 years" for them to get back together!

For Halloween 2021, the couple was joined by Affleck’s ex, Garner, while taking their kids trick-or-treating. A source claimed: "Everyone gets along and the focus is always on the kids. Jennifer, Ben, and Jen Garner all wanted the kids to have an amazing Halloween. The kids are friends and wanted to go trick-or-treating together. It made sense that they all went together." 

Months before Garner and Affleck’s divorce was finalized in 2018, the “13 Going On 30” star was romantically linked to businessman Miller. The couple dated uninterrupted for two years until August 2020, when they broke up. Barely one year after they parted ways, the couple reignited the flame of their passion and have been together since then.

Unlike Bennifer, the relationship between Garner and Miller is somewhat different. A source close to the couple told US Weekly that they are more out of the public eye and do not care much for the limelight. 

“They’re happier being a regular, under-the-radar couple and don’t need anyone else’s validation to know they’re meant to be together. That’s not to say they’re taking digs against others, it’s just not them,” the source revealed.

Besides Affleck and Garner being in flourishing romantic relationships with their new partners, parenting has also been smooth between them. Since Affleck is running a blended family with his new wife, Garner and Lopez have had to have a somewhat close relationship.

According to reports by ET, an insider revealed details about Garner and Lopez’s relationship. The source said the actresses are “very cordial and they have a very healthy and functioning relationship.” The source also said their kids are getting along well and are “learning and growing together as a new, extended family.”

The source also revealed that co-parenting between Affleck and Garner has been healthy, noting that the former couple have employed open communication to tackle the complexities of co-parenting. This claim is in line with Garner’s revelation of co-parenting with her ex-husband on Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series, where she noted that parenting their children is a “gift” despite the difficulty involved in it.

Lopez shared a carousel of photos on June 15, 2023. The pictures were from a modeling campaign shot with the fashion clothing brand REVOLVE. In some of the photos, the actress looked gorgeous in a green-and-pink patterned ankle-length gown with a cutout around the midsection of her body that exposed some skin around her sides and on her back. 

Besides accentuating her curves, the cutout revealed a tattoo on the side of her body. The actress flashed the tattoo, which she reportedly got in tribute to her and her husband’s love, on Valentine's Day.

Lopez’s fans were introduced to the new tattoo on Feb. 15, 2023, when she made a post in tribute to their love’s journey. The actress donned a white crop top that revealed her newly drawn tattoo above her rib cage. The tattoo, which is an infinity symbol intersected by an arrow, had the names of the actress and her husband on it. Lopez partly captioned the post:

“Commitment ♾️ Happy Valentine’s Day my love 🤍.”

Among the carousel of pictures was also a photo of Affleck’s tattoo, which he got in tribute to their union. While it is unclear what part of the body he got his on, the illustration featured two crossbows with the first letter of their first names written in the middle.

Bennifer isn't the only one reveling in their love. Affleck’s ex-wife, Garner, is also having the time of her life with her boyfriend, Miller. In a photo published by Page Six, the actress was seen wrapping her hands around Miller’s neck as she pulled him in for a goodbye hug. 

It is good to see Lopez and Garner enjoying their relationships after previously experiencing relationship setbacks. One can only hope that they and their partners have more beautiful experiences.
