Aug 01, 2023
The friendship shared between Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow is a testament to the transformative power of genuine connections. From their iconic roles on “Friends” to their continued support and affection for each other, their bond has withstood the test of time. As these talented actresses continue to thrive in their careers and personal lives, their enduring sisterhood remains a beacon of light in the often tumultuous world of Hollywood. And, as Kudrow rang in her 60th birthday in 2023, her besties were there to heap piles of love and affection on her.
The seeds of this extraordinary friendship were sown during the early 1990s when Aniston, Cox and Lisa Kudrow were cast as Rachel Green, Monica Geller and Phoebe Buffay, respectively, in the hit TV show “Friends.” Their on-screen chemistry was undeniable, but it was off-screen that their bond truly flourished. The actresses quickly developed a genuine affection for each other, forming a close-knit circle that weathered the highs and lows of fame together.
The actresses' shared experiences while working on “Friends” played a pivotal role in cementing their friendship. Endless hours spent on set, laughter-filled rehearsals and the challenges of balancing personal lives with busy shooting schedules forged a deep understanding and connection between the three stars. Through the years, they supported one another through professional milestones, celebrated successes and provided comfort during difficult times.
Beyond their time on “Friends,” Aniston, Cox and Kudrow were often spotted attending each other's events, parties and gatherings in support of one another. In interviews and public appearances, they spoke fondly of their bond, reminiscing about cherished memories and inside jokes shared on and off the set.
Even years after “Friends” went off the air, their bond has remained as strong as ever.
As the years passed and their careers diversified, Aniston, Cox and Kudrow remained constant pillars of support for one another. Aniston successfully transitioned to the big screen, proving her versatility as an actress with roles in movies like “Bruce Almighty,” “Horrible Bosses,” “We’re The Millers” and “Murder Mystery.” Cox's onscreen success continued after “Friends” with prominent roles in popular TV shows like “Cougar Town” and appearances in numerous films, such as the “Scream” franchise. Kudrow continued to shine in various projects, including the films “The Girl on the Train” and “Booksmart,” as well as roles in television shows such as “The Comeback,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and “Scandal.”
Kudrow turned 60 on July 30, 2023, and both Aniston and Cox shared some touching messages, loving wishes and throwback photos to celebrate the day. Aniston’s Instagram post comprised a slew of photos of herself with Kudrow from their younger days, including stills from “Friends” photoshoots, one of the pair of them posing for the ubiquitous “Got Milk?” ad campaign of the late '90s and personal photos on nights out with Cox.
“Please join me in celebrating one of my favorite people on the planet. LISA KUDROW!! 🎈🥳 She’s been my friend and my family for nearly 30 incredible years. I cherish you,” Aniston wrote in the caption before revealing her pet name for Kudrow.
“I love you, my sweet Floosh. One of the most talented comedians/actors I’ve had the great honor to work with for all these glorious years and more to come!” Kudrow responded by also revealing her nickname for Aniston:

Cox also took to Instagram to share her love for Kudrow on the occasion of her milestone birthday. She posted a carousel of photos of them alongside their “Friends” co-stars Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, including back on the set of their sitcom during filming for their reunion special in May 2021, cozying up together on their days off and all glammed up for an event. The caption, which also included her own term of endearment for her friend, read:
“Happy Birthday my Loot. This is my second attempt: ChatGPT didn’t give you nearly the amount of love I feel for you. You are the smartest, funniest, most thoughtful person. I always feel seen and loved when I’m around you. That’s the gift you give to those you love x.”
Kudrow responded in kind by sharing her cute nickname for Cox as well:
“Oh Cahoot. I love You so much and guess what? I always feels seen by YOU.”
The trio’s bond has stood the test of time, and during the reunion special, they each had only wonderful things to say about each other. Cox told her castmates they “became best friends through just the chemistry, the whole thing. It was life-changing and it forever will be — not just for us, but for people who watch it, and that's such a great feeling to carry forever. I'm really thankful, and I love you guys so much."
Aniston called “Friends” not just a “spectacular phenomenon, but the friendships and family that came out of it is just — you can't put words to that really. It's priceless.”
Kudrow said their closeness never diminished despite “Friends” ending, and she felt “like we can pick up right where we left off, and no time's passed. We're connected no matter what.”
