Jeff Bridges Diagnosed With Lymphoma But Prognosis Looks Good

Jeff Bridges, the actor best known for his role as Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski in the 1998 movie, "The Big Lebowski," has revealed he has been diagnosed with lymphoma. He posted the news to his social media account on Monday.

The 70-year-old actor broke the news to his followers on Instagram and Twitter, alluding to his character in "The Big Lebowski:"

"[...] I have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I'm starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery."

Bridges, who was born in LA, California, in 1949 and has starred in several high-profile films such as "Starman," "The Contender," and "True Grit." He has been nominated for an Academy Award seven times and took home the Best Actor award in 2010 for his role in "Crazy Heart."

Lymphoma is a rare form of cancer that affects the lymph system, which is part of the body's immune system network. There are two types: Non-Hodgkin, the most common, and Hodgkin.
