The popular television series first began airing in 2012 and has showcased the weight loss journey of dozens of participants over the years. The series focuses on the trials and successes that each patient goes through as they diet, exercise, and often undergo weight-loss surgery. By no means is it an easy feat, but with the help of professionals and the support of their friends and families, many participants of “My 600-lb Life” go on to share their success stories with the world later on.
Jeanne Covey appeared on the series in March 2019 and has continued to keep fans in the loop with her weight loss journey ever since, being especially active online in the year 2020. During her time on the show, Covey lived in Texas with her dogs and weighed more than 600 pounds. Since then, Covey has struggled a lot with her weight loss journey and with matters in her personal life. Read on to find out more about what Covey’s life is like today.
Health Issues And Hard Times
Covey’s episode of “My 600-lb Life” first aired in March 2019, and she has continued to document parts of her life and weight loss journey since. During her time on the show, Covey spent much of her time in a chair and was waited on by her parents. “It’s so humiliating to be almost 40 and rely on my mom and dad to do everything for me,” she said at the time.
According to The List, her father had schizophrenia, and her mother was also suffering from an illness. Dr. Now, a weight loss doctor, described Covey’s condition as “extremely critical.” Covey struggled to follow the diet plan prescribed by Dr. Now but eventually started to make some progress.
Unfortunately, this didn’t last long, as Covey struggled after her mother became extremely sick and was forced to undergo surgery, as per The List. The hardships with her parents kept falling, and Covey’s father passed away shortly afterward. Covey then pulled out of the weight loss program, having only lost 32 pounds since she started her journey.
Since then, Covey has joined the list of former “My 600-lb Life” stars who have filed a lawsuit against the show’s production company, Megalomedia, according to a February 2020 report from The Ashley’s Reality Roundup. Covey alleged that Megalomedia did not cover her mother’s $70,000 medical bills despite previously offering to pay the bill in full, as per The List.
According to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, the pair were also allegedly threatened with a lawsuit if they didn’t comply with filming despite asking production to stop following the death of Covey’s father. Covey said the threats and demands only worsened her “already weakened emotional state.”

Continuing Her Journey
Despite all of the hardships Covey has faced over the years, it seems like she managed to get herself back on track with her health journey, working toward finding inner peace and tackling her weight loss journey head-on. She created a Facebook page to document her journey. In the page’s description, Covey wrote, “This is a fan page about my journey on 600lb life and afterwards.. And a place for inspiration….”
Covey gave fans and supporters a few updates in August 2020, replying to people’s comments and posting a few photos as well. In her post from Aug. 13, 2020, Covey stated in the comments section that she was “doing well.” She also left some words of encouragement for others hoping to start or progress in their own weight loss journey. Covey said:
“Keep up the motivation. Just one step at a time. And if you mess up? Just start back again. Don’t beat yourself up about it. We’re not perfect and life isn’t a race.”
On Aug. 17, 2020, Covey updated her status in a Facebook post, sharing her most recent weight loss update. She explained that she started at 631 pounds and jokingly said that the TV added 71 pounds. She is currently down to 388 pounds, losing an impressive amount of weight so far. “I’m doing great going out more,” Covey added.
Despite so many hurdles and challenges thrown her way, it’s clear that Covey is continuing to work on herself and work toward a path toward a happier and healthier life. We wish her all the best!
