Jamie Lee Curtis Is A Proud Mother To Two Beautiful Daughters Annie & Ruby
Mar 20, 2023
Jamie Lee Curtis' dynamic acting career transcends over four decades. Although she is the offspring of two talented Hollywood movie stars, Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, Jamie Lee did not initially want to be an actress.
Curtis' breakthrough role came in 1978 when the then 19-year-old starred as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's horror movie classic "Halloween." This role paved her way in Hollywood and put her in the ranks of one of the greatest scream queens of her generation. Among the movies that Curtis has famously starred in are "Knives Out," "A Fish Called Wanda," "My Girl,” "Freaky Friday” and “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” which earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Aside from being a well-loved actress across generations, Curtis is also a faithful wife and a loving mother. The actress is married to comedy director Christopher Guest, who is known for films like “Waiting for Guffman,” “Best in Show,” “A Mighty Wind,” “For Your Consideration” and “Mascots.”
Curtis and Guest's marriage is one for the ages — they've been married for over 35 years! They have both led very interesting lives. They've proven they're in it for the long haul.
However, despite their love for one another, the couple could not conceive naturally because Guest had issues with fertility. Two years after getting married in 1984, they openly adopted Annie, their first daughter. Years later, when one of Curtis’ friends gave birth, they had Tom, who now identifies as Ruby. She came out as a transgender woman in 2021.
Since then, Curtis’ fans have been interested in and are keeping tabs on the Oscar-winning actress’ family life and journey toward raising two beautiful daughters. Read on to learn more about them!
According to a Pact’s Point of View interview with Curtis in 1997, Annie, the actress’ first child, was openly adopted. This meant that Curtis and Guest met Annie’s biological parents and they mutually chose each other via an attorney.
"We were awakened in the middle of the night with the phone call announcing that she was born," Curtis revealed to People Magazine in 1991.
Now a full-grown adult, Annie, 36, has been committed to a life in the arts like both of her parents. However, Annie wasn’t built for the silver screen; she was, in fact, born to take the stage.
While her parents were engrossed in acting, Annie has shown and pursued her passion for dancing. Annie attended Kenyon College in Ohio, one of the most prestigious dance schools in the Midwest. She honed her craft and was even hailed as Best Choreographer by her own peers and colleagues. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance in 2009.
Annie’s dance journey has arrived at a full-circle moment. She is now a dance instructor at the MNR Dance Factory in Los Angeles, the same studio where she started dancing at the young age of eight. Because of MNR, she competed both in international and national competitions growing up.
Like her mother, Annie is now also a family woman. She married her husband Jason Wolf in an intimate wedding in her own parents’ backyard.
Unlike her parents, Annie has shied away from the limelight, but on some occasions, she throws her support for her mother. At the 2016 Golden Globe Awards, Annie and her mom had a twinning moment as they both rocked gray hair, in support of Curtis' advocacy for aging naturally in Hollywood.

On the other hand, Curtis and Guest’s youngest child has attracted much more attention from the press. In the August/September 2021 issue of AARP Magazine, Jamie Lee Curtis revealed that her youngest child had come out as a transgender woman. She has since used the non-binary pronouns they/them.
In 2021, Ruby, 27, opened up to People Magazine, detailing how they came out to their parents.
"It was scary — just the sheer fact of telling them something about me they didn't know. It was intimidating — but I wasn't worried. They had been so accepting of me my entire life,” she explained.
Not more than a year after, Curtis officiated the wedding of her daughter Ruby and their partner Kynthia in an amusing cosplay wedding, which took place in the family's own backyard, just like Ruby's older sister Annie had done.
Speaking to her daughter Ruby’s decision to come out as a transgender woman, Curtis told AARP Magazine that she understands that gender isn’t fixed, adding that life is a “constant metamorphosis.” Since Ruby’s decision to come out, Curtis has been passionately advocating for transgender visibility and rights, and she has not shied away from being vocal about it.
A day after her big win at the 2023 Oscars, Curtis graced The TODAY Show, where she was moved to tears after watching her acceptance speech for the first time since the ceremony.
“Hey, everybody in TODAY!” Curtis greeted everyone as she dearly showed off her Oscar statuette. “Here they are.”
Savannah Guthrie, who was with Hoda Kotb at the time, asked the Oscar-winning actress: “Have we named her?” Shortly after, Curtis said:
“In support of my daughter Ruby, I’m having them be a 'they/them.' I’m just gonna call them ‘them,’ and they are settling in.”
