James Taylor Plays Heartfelt Version Of 'You Can Close Your Eyes' With Wife And Son Next To Him

The legendary singer and songwriter James Taylor performed in May 2020 on "The Tonight Show" with his wife, Kim, and son, Henry. They were quarantined at their Montana home due to the coronavirus, and that made it even sweeter as they could all sing and beautifully harmonize together while Taylor strummed his guitar.

It was heartwarming to watch them give each other loving gestures and big smiles that showed the appreciative audience how happy and joyful the family was to all be together and be able to sing that special song.

They chose one of James' greatest and well-known hits, "You Can Close Your Eyes," from the Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon album that had been released in 1971 and which is still used by some fans as a lullaby to sing to their babies. Different artists including Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon, Sting, Sheryl Crow, and others have covered that song.

Fans responded with cheers for the performance of James and his beautiful family and gave glowing comments such as the following:

Gabrielle Gewirtz, although living in Colorado, wrote that she was in NYC taking care of her mom. She had left her guitar there years ago but took it out of storage and had been practicing mostly that song.

Rolling Stone announced that Taylor is to be a part of “The Voice” as a mega mentor. Although his shows have been postponed due to the pandemic, he still has shown his generosity by donating $1 million to the Massachusetts General Hospital.
