Princess Beatrice has talked about her "secret wedding" for the first time on Friday, September 25th, while announcing the winners of the "Forget Me Not Kids Summer Art Competition". After showing a drawing of a wedding by a child called Chloe, the 32-year-old royal said: "Russell Bear at a wedding. I mean Chloe, do you think this might be my wedding?" She continued:
"Because I had the chance to get married this summer, and it was so much fun. But I am not sure I looked as smart as Russell Bear does in his outfit. So thank you so much Chloe for your incredible entry."
BBC reported that the wedding had taken place on July 17th at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge. It was attended by her grandparents the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, along with other close family members. Beatrice and her now-husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were supposed wed in May but had to postpone it due to the pandemic.

The intimate ceremony was attended by only 20 or so close friends and family members, including Beatrice's parents, Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, who walked his daughter down the aisle. A royal communications press release explained more about the wedding ceremony, as reported by People magazine:
"In accordance with government guidelines, no hymns were sung, but a selection of music was played. The National Anthem was played but not sung."
Her dress and tiara were both lent to her by her grandmother, the Queen. Not only that, but the tiara happened to be the same one that the monarch wore on her wedding day, adding to the sentimentality since Beatrice and her grandmother are very close, according to People.
Discussing the big day, which honored social distancing guidelines, the source told People in the same interview:
"The Queen was the guest of honor, and it was very important that she was there. It was planned for some time, and everyone had to be extremely cautious leading up to the big day because the Queen was in attendance. They had to make sure everyone who was attending was in perfect health."
In a very sweet addition, Edoardo's young son named Wolfie was the best man and page boy. Princess Beatrice is now stepmother to the young boy, who her husband shares with Dara Huang, an architect and designer who is his former partner.
