Ireland Baldwin Confesses She ‘Did Not Want To Breast-Feed’ Daughter Holland Initially But Was ‘Good At It’
Aug 08, 2023
Ireland Baldwin is the first of her dad’s eight children. She is the daughter of two famous Hollywood stars, Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, and was born two years after they married. Ireland is an actress, model, and social media influencer, and has appeared in several editorials for magazines. The 27-year-old is also an animal rights advocate and has modeled for PETA.
Alec and Basinger divorced when Ireland was 7. For a while after that, Ireland lived in the spotlight after Alec’s angry voicemail leaked to the public when she was 11. Media outlet TMZ bought the recording that thrust Ireland into the limelight, where she lived until public interest died down. Alec and Basinger went through a nasty divorce battle and, in particular, fought for custody of Ireland.
Alec shared previously that Basinger spent over $1.5 million to keep Ireland away from him. Unfortunately, the leaked voicemail in which Alec called his daughter a “rude, thoughtless, little pig” caused him to temporarily lose his visitation rights and further strained his relationship with Ireland. The actor spoke about his ordeal later and confessed that the situation made him suicidal. However, he got over it with professional help. Today, Ireland has a healthy relationship with Alec.
Ireland has been open about many things in her life, including her struggles with anxiety and how she struggled to breastfeed her baby just after delivering her. The model shared her experience in an Instagram post on Aug. 4, 2023, and told her followers how it has been since she started breastfeeding her baby. Several of her followers were happy that she was transparent and shared their experiences too. Continue reading to know what she said.
Ireland went through a turbulent past when her parents separated and divorced, but if she has learned anything from that incident, she holds those close to her dear. Ireland and Alec have since worked on their relationship to the extent that she now jokes about the voicemail incident. When Alec forgot to include her in a post about his children in May 2023, she also took it in good stride.
The actor quickly corrected his error when he found out and celebrated that he would soon become a granddad through his first child. Ireland also has a great relationship with her mom, Basinger, who she said is the first person she calls when she wants to talk. The duo has kept their relationship going despite all they went through.
Ireland also relates well with her stepmom, Hilaria Baldwin, who tied the knot with Alec in 2012. Ireland defended the yoga instructor in 2020 after some naysayers accused her of faking her ethnicity and accent. Although Hilaria tried to clear up the confusion about her foreign accent, the criticism continued. Ireland stepped in and talked about how wonderful Hilaria is in a few Instagram story videos, per US Weekly.
Ireland also gushed about her stepmom in one of Hilaria’s Instagram posts. She shared that she was lucky to have had a good stepmom who loved her and respected her relationship with her dad. Ireland’s posts about her family show that they are on great terms.
The animal rights advocate also previously shared that she is grateful for getting a start in her career because of her parents’ influence. Above all, she considers herself lucky in many areas, including her love life.

On Aug. 4, 2023, Ireland shared a post on her Instagram account and detailed her experience breastfeeding her daughter, Holland. The actress shares 3-month-old Holland with her boyfriend and musician, RAC, named André Allen Anjos, 38.
“I think yesterday was international breastfeeding day? Regardless of how you chose to feed your baby, a happy, fed baby is all that matters,” the mom of one began in her caption of a photo of herself and Holland.
Holland’s face was, however, hidden from the camera.
“To be completely transparent, I did not want to breast-feed. I had my own personal reasons for that choice. But it turned out that me and little Miss were kind of good at it!!!” the influencer continued.
“It just took a little time to get there,” Ireland shared. “She was supplemented with formula and still gets formula/breast milk combo! I take pride in my ability to feed her with these milk jugs but I also love that she’s taking well to all of the options!”
Ireland then appreciated the efforts of other moms who might be in her situation. “Regardless of what you’re doing, just know, you’re doing a good job!!! In case someone hasn’t told you that lately,” she opined.
Ireland’s followers thanked her for her transparency and applauded her in the comment section. “I didn’t want to breastfeed and so I didn’t. My daughter is 25 now and amazing. You said it. Fed is best,” someone wrote. A second fan commented, “Thanks for normalizing that a well fed baby is most important,” with a pink heart emoji.
“By all accounts, you’re doing a phenomenal job, and Holland looks happy and healthy. 👏🏻❤️,” a third follower wrote.
