Inside Chrissy Teigen And John Legend’s Newly Designed Family-Friendly Home

John Legend is one of the biggest stars on the music scene. He is the only Black man and the youngest person of 18 people in the world to have bagged all four of the awards that make up the EGOT — the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards. In addition to being a songwriter and record producer, the “All of Me” crooner loves to act and has featured in several big-screen and small-screen projects. The singer is a highly sought-after musician who has worked with other stars in the industry, including Janet Jackson and Alicia Keys. 

John is also passionate about his family and even stepped down as a judge on “The Voice” to focus on his wife and kids. He has four kids with his wife, Chrissy Teigen, who is also a television personality. Teigen, just like John, loves having a large family and once shared that her dream was always to have four children right from when she was little. The 37-year-old has achieved that, as well as being a model, cookbook author and TV host. Despite living in the spotlight because of their careers, Teigen and John have made things work with their family. What’s more, they even make things fun in their large family. 

The couple was featured in Architectural Digest’s (AD’s) September issue for 2023, where they talked about their new Beverly Hills home. In an interview with AD, Teigen and John explained why they purchased and designed their home a certain way. They also gave fans a tour of the new home on Aug. 1, 2023, and explained what each room was for. Continue reading to know what they said. 

Teigen and John are serial home buyers, with the couple’s real estate portfolio worth about $57 million in 2022. The pair and their children have also moved quite a lot due to this and referred to it during their interview with AD. 

“We’re used to it by now. We’re always open to a new house, or to changing the house we’re in,” Teigen shared while John interjected that it was mostly his wife who loved it. “Every house we’ve ever had reflects the moment we were in our lives, like chapters in a book,” Teigen explained about their new home. 

John took over and said: “Our last house was darker and more cloistered, like a sanctuary. We were attracted to this place because of its lightness and airiness. We love how open it feels, and how it’s so connected to the outdoors. We wanted to create something magical, especially for the kids,”

It would appear that their older two kids are also accustomed to moving by now. Luna Legend, 7, is the couple’s eldest with the tag “Daddy’s girl.” The couple’s first son and second child, Miles Legend, is 5 and looks just like his dad. John and Teigen welcomed their last two children in 2023, with Esti Legend arriving in January 2023 and Wren Legend in June 2023.

Designer Jake Arnold got to design Teigen and Legend’s bright home in Beverly Hills. 

"They like elements with a little glam and fun, and they’re drawn to work by bold, contemporary artisans, which is not my usual thing,” Arnold shared. “My challenge was to take this very contemporary, shiny new house and apply my philosophy to it — to make it inviting and livable, a version of what I do that speaks directly to their personalities.”

Teigen and John had a chat with AD after the design. They also gave fans a tour of their beautiful home in a YouTube video AD posted on Aug. 1, 2023. The couple’s home is family-oriented and kid-proof. Teigen and John’s primary suite was redesigned to enable them to share amenities, including bathrooms and closets as they like to stay together. They also used outdoor materials for some of their indoor furniture so kids could play inside. 

Teigen and John showed off their living room which they mentioned they stay in a lot. They also shared a glimpse of their functional kitchen, where Teigen loves to make meals.

The house also features a family movie room with comfortable rock-like pillows, while the cool tones of the room appealed to everyone. Teigen and John showed off the kids’ rooms as well. Luna’s room was done in pastels and featured a small slide that led into a ball pit. It had a fun-sized kitchen and an Easy Bake oven. Miles’ room had a Jeep-shaped bed and a miniature rock climbing wall, Jake commented in the video. 

The tour included the couple’s bedroom, which had warm brown colors for relaxation. It has a sofa set in the corner, which Teigen said she uses for therapy sessions. The home also has a piano bar, where John sometimes writes music, and Luna takes piano lessons. The family can also store musical instruments in it. In addition, the model and her songwriter husband’s awards were lined up along one of the walls. 

The tour included a spacious backyard, a garden, an infinity pool with a slide, an outdoor kitchen and plenty of patio space for entertaining family and friends. 

“That’s the way we like it,” Teigen said. “It’s always open house here.”
