Infant Creeps Up On Huge Husky — Entire Internet Obsessed With Dog's Reaction
Nov 07, 2020
An adorable video of a very small child attempting to sneak up on his family’s pet husky has gone viral, and it couldn’t be more precious. The small baby gently crawls up to the husky in his diaper, clearly intrigued by the gracious animal.
Little by little, he attempts to pet and poke the husky while still maintaining balance in his crawl stands. The husky looks stoic as the baby continues to pet the large dog’s fur and snout. While we can’t seem to trace the origin of the video, we found it on the internet and loved it!

Huskies are known for their incredibly unique personalities. Huskies are very active dogs, and they need to spend a great deal of time outside. They require a large amount of exercise and are great for people who are active runners.
Huskies sometimes don’t know their own strength and can knock little ones over with the best of intentions, so they aren't necessarily the best dogs to have around babies.

This video has gone viral, and it shows just how gentle huskies can be, even with a tiny baby. At one point, the baby even has his hand in the husky’s mouth, and the pup simply gives him a series of kisses and gentle nibbles.
The infant continues to be overjoyed as he pets the husky’s tummy and neck. It is incredibly clear that the Husky knows his own strength and understands his role is to be extremely gentle with the small child.
To date, the video has had over 17 million views. Huskies are extremely loyal companions. They also are great watchdogs as they are very protective of their owners. They are generally upbeat dogs. However, when they feel their owner is threatened in any way, they have an alarmingly deep growl.
But we asked ourselves, why is it that huskie are so popular? It seems like whenever dog lovers spot one, they are bound to gasp, point, and freak out. And there has to be more to it than just their fluffy coats! Previous husky owners will know that the dog breed has incredibly beautiful eyes. As the AKC points out, Siberian huskies can have blue eyes, brown eyes, a mix, or even multi-colored eyes — as if they weren't beautiful enough already!
Part of the appeal also has to be the Siberian husky's thick coat, as we've just mentioned, which the AKC explains is designed to keep them warm in cold climates. And that makes sense given that huskies were originally bred in northeastern Asia by the Chukchi people, an indigenous group that lives on the shores of the Chukchi Sea and the Bering Sea.
The Chukchi people used the versatile dogs as family pets but also as sled dogs that would haul small loads in sub-zero temperatures (talk about an amazing dog breed!). The breed gained popularity thanks to sled races in the 1900s, especially with the story of musher Leonhard Seppala, who led a relay of huskies more than 600 miles in order to deliver a lifesaving medicine to patients in Nome, Alaska, according to the AKC. The breed, which the AKC notes was the 15th most popular breed in 2019, was recognized by the organization back in 1930, making the Siberian husky the AKC's 87th breed.
Unfortunately, the fact that Siberian huskies are popular and in high demand means that they are typically quite expensive, especially if you buy one from a breeder. According to NextDayPets, a pet adoption website, the median price for a Siberian husky puppy in the U.S. is $835.00, though you can expect to pay up to $10,000 for a "top quality" pup. Similar breeds that might be easier to find at a more reasonable price include the Alaskan Malamute, the Yakutian Laika, the Samoyed, and the Akita. With that said, you might get lucky and find a husky or a husky-mix at your local dog shelter. In any case, this video shows exactly why huskies are so in-demand: they're good with kids, they're beautiful, and they make great pets for viral videos!
