If Your Partner Has 1 Of These 11 Traits, It Actually Says More About YOU Than Them

Jun 13, 2018

Love is complicated. What works for one person is another person's worst nightmare. However, the person we do fall in love with can say a lot about who we are. Even the height of your significant other can reveal something about you. Here are 11 things you can look for in your spouse to learn a little more about yourself.

Look-Alikes

This one's going to sound odd, but there is evidence that people tend to date people who look somewhat like them. You're not going to look like twins, but take a look at some of your partner's features. Do you have any in common? If so, that means you're into yourself, in a good way.

Same Level Of Attractiveness

With few exceptions, people choose partners who are similar in attractiveness to themselves. For some reason, it seems like the right option to us. Therefore, if you think your significant other is hot, chances are you're hot too!

Complementary Temperaments

One of the ways we differ from our partners is often temperament. We choose people who are unlike us, but who complement our personalities. For example, if you're very calm, you may choose someone who is a little more fiery. If you're the one who's got a temper, your partner is likely calm and even-tempered.

Height Differences

Some couples have really noticeable height differences. One is significantly taller than the other. For me, they look stronger and more powerful next to a petite woman. A woman looks more self-assured and strong next to a shorter man. If you choose a shorter partner, you're a caretaker. If you choose a taller partner, you want to feel protected.

Full Figured

There's no denying that there are men and woman out there who love partners with a little more meat on their bones. While it's nobody's business what you're attracted to, this may actually have something to do with signs of fertility. Curves means a woman is ready to start a family in a biological sense, so men may be subconsciously drawn to that.

Your Partner Looks Like Your Parent

Sigmund Freud may have been discredited on a lot of things, but not on the fact that people seem to choose partners who look like the parent who shares their partner's gender. Check out some photos of your parents at your age. Does your partner look similar? It may have something to do with security.

Pets

If you found yourself checking out your partner's pets before you decided to settle down, there's a good reason for it. A responsible person has healthy, happy pets. If your partner can take care of a dog, he might be ready for a committed relationship.

The Tables Have Turned

In some cases, two people can't stand each other. Then, they realize they like each other and wind up in a successful relationship. This rare kind of love likely stems from an appreciation for the hard work you put in to change a person's mind about you. It also says you like a challenge. Nice people aren't much of a challenge, so they might not interest you.

You Walk At The Same Pace

Oddly enough, you might subconciously like your partner in part because of his or her walking pace. Neither of you has to chase the other or slow down to stay together.

Maturity Levels

Is your partner a child at heart, or are you? If the former, it could mean you like to take the role of teacher. If the latter, you prefer to be capricious like a child while someone else guides you.

Kind Attracts Kind

Empathetic people are less tolerant of people who are unkind. They are more likely to get along with people who are also empathetic. If you're in a relationship with a sweetheart, it might mean you're one too.
