"I'll Do Anything For Them": Boy's Plea For A Family To Adopt Him Goes Viral And It's Heartbreaking

Aug 31, 2018

In a heartbreaking video Jerimiah, a 10-year-old Oklahoma boy, talks to a Fox news reporter about the state of his current living condition under the custody of the Department of Human Services.  He opens up about the abuse that has him so desperate to leave his group home, as well as his fear of not being adopted by the time he hits 18, a problem no child should have to face.

Jerimiah is a boy with simple desires.  He loves video games, swimming at the YMCA, and reading adventure stories.

He dreams of one day trying out fishing, horse-back riding, and starting a garden if given the opportunity. When asked to describe what his ideal family would look like, he states he imagines, “a nice woman, a nice husband, nice kids, and pets”.

He pleads that he would do “anything" for the family that adopts him.

Jerimiah is not happy with his current group home because he says he is frequently “beat up”.  Despite bringing this to the attention of his adoption workers, there is not much that can be done for young Jerimiah unless a family steps forward and decides to take him in.

Jerimiah fears not being adopted by the time he’s 18.  He states he desperately does not want that to happen because of the turmoil it will bring into his life.

Unfortunately, the story of Jerimiah is not a unique one.  He is one of many children living a life of heartbreak; whose hope of a better future is the only thing that keeps them going.  If you, or anyone you know is considering adopting or fostering a child like Jerimiah, please contact the foster parent hotline at 1-800-376-2979 or reach out to your state’s Department of Child Safety to gather more information on the process.

Even if you are not in a position where you can adopt or foster a child, please do Jerimiah a favor by spreading his story.  We owe it to him to try and help him achieve his life-long goal of finding a loving and caring family, just as everyone deserves.
