Here's Cyndi Lauper's Husband, David Thornton

Cyndi Lauper, who celebrated her 70th birthday last year, has been a household name for decades thanks to her eccentric personality and music career built on popular songs like Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Many people don't realize that Cyndi's husband David Thornton also enjoys some fame and has appeared in projects like Law & Order.

Cyndi Lauper first created a name for herself with She's So Unusual (1983) which became the first debut album from a female artist to hit the Billboard Hot 100 charts with four top-five hits. Two of those hit singles were Girls Just Want to Have Fun and Time After Time.

In 1991, Cyndi met David Thornton on the set of Off and Running, a movie that Cyndi starred in. Cyndi told The Independent she was the first to make a move on her future husband:

"I met David and everything changed. When we started rehearsing, David was real shy with me. I began to send him teasing notes - it's what I do when I kinda like someone."

She went on to say:

"It was during an intimate moment in a Miami hotel that I realized I loved him, that I wanted to marry him. [...] Two weeks after we'd really gotten together, he was talking about marriage."

They got married on November 24th, 1991. Six years later they had a son named Declyn Wallace Thornton.

The couple has been married for 30 years and seems as strong as ever! David has appeared in some episodes of Law & Order and landed parts Home Alone 3 (1997) and the popular romance film The Notebook (2004). He and Cyndi even starred together in the 2009 Serbian film Here and There which received the Best New York Narrative Award.

David Thornton has also attended Hamilton College and Yale Drama School and studied at Lee Strasberg's Actors' Studio. He will be starring in Transfer at Aachen in 2021. He and Cyndi have shared recent pictures showing them safe during the recent outbreak of COVID-19.
