Here Are Exactly The Things Martha Stewart Does To Look So Youthful At 79
May 10, 2021
The well-loved television personality and lifestyle expert Martha Stewart might be 79 years old already, but she is far from retiring. Proving that age is nothing but a number, the nearly octogenarian just started a new HGTV series titled "Martha Knows Best" in 2020. The show's focus is on the many aspects of modern living and is aired from her farmstead in Bedford, New York.
Among the many things to be found on her estate, Stewart's farmstead is home to a variety of animals, including chickens, a flock of geese, a few turkeys, Black Welsh mountain sheep and Sicilian donkeys. And inside her house, a large pantry is essential, filled with absolutely all the necessary items for cooking and baking up a storm.
Stewart's DIY and "try it at home" attitude is certainly one thing her longtime fans love most about her. From cooking and decorating the home to organizational tips, everything can be easily recreated or tried by those watching her shows.
So it's no surprise to learn that Stewart has her own list of personal to-do's that allow her to stay fit and active even at her age. From dietary tips such as drinking healthy green juices first thing in the morning and eating fresh, healthy foods to more philosophical ideas such as staying curious and going with the flow, if there's anyone we could all take a lesson on living life to the fullest from it's Martha Stewart. Let's take a look at the things she practices in her life to keep her youthful.
1. Green Juice For Breakfast
In a recent video with Harper's Bazaar that detailed everything Martha Stewart eats in a day, the homemaker revealed that a green juice packed full of nutrients is one of the most important ways for her to start the day. Including everything from cucumber, celery, pineapple, and orange, as well as ginger and herbs parsley and mint, Stewart explained:
“My green juice is very special to me. I think it’s really the secret of good skin, I think it’s the secret of good healthy hair.”
2. Eating Fresh, Healthy Foods
In the same video detailing her food intake, Stewart explained that she tries "very hard to keep nothing in the house that will entice [her]." That keeps her on track to eat mostly fresh, healthy foods instead of junk. Her balanced diet focuses on nutrient-rich foods such as fresh eggs for breakfast, light lunches, such as tuna salads, and roasted, organic chicken for dinner. She states, "I want organic, I want clean, I want tasty, and I want healthy." However, she knows that we all have vices and she admits to indulging in the occasional vodka cocktail.
3. Staying Active Outdoors
Dispelling the myth that all grounded people have to meditate, Stewart told CNBC, "Do you think a hyper person like I can meditate? No, I'm not good at that." However, she did reveal she likes yoga, specifically Iyengar yoga, "which incorporates a little bit of relaxation." She also spoke about her fondness for horseback riding, saying:
"I’ve been lucky to have my horses during this entire [pandemic]. Outdoor activity is very good. Sitting around inside, I don’t think is a good thing.”

4. Good Skin Care And The Odd Injectible
Working in show business, Stewart is well aware that one's appearance is of the utmost importance. That's why she has a detailed skincare regimen that keeps her glowing. Posting her thorough routine to her website, Stewart's morning begins with a face mask at 5:00 a.m. each day, before she cleanses in the shower, tones, treats with a serum and then protects her skin from the sun with an SPF of 50. In the evening she takes off her makeup, uses a serum and follows up with a moisturizer.
Furthermore, she boosts her skin with injectables twice a year, telling WSJ:
"I love skincare, I love technology, lasers — I love all those things that will help you look better. It’s not about looking younger, it’s about looking better, and the better you look the younger you look.”
5. Light Makeup
When it comes to accenting her natural glow that comes from good skincare, Stewart has her own 10-minute makeup routine — which she calls "insta-beauty" — sorted. In a video with Allure from March, she explained her process, which includes mixing foundation with her eye cream, using a primer as a cheekbone highlighter, and two types of bronzer. She explains: "I've always used too much bronzer. It just makes me feel healthy, which I am."
She accentuates her features with her favorite eyeliner, mascara, and a contour stick as eyeshadow, before choosing whatever lipstick and gloss she's feeling that day. "It's not very much, but this gets me out the door," she adds.
6. Staying Curious And Going With The Flow
One of her core values, Stewart has made a living off of staying curious. She told WSJ:
“I have a lot of energy so that also keeps me current and going. And I’m also very curious about everything, so I’m not set in my ways at all. I think that that helps tremendously, as one ages, to ... go with the flow.”
7. Embracing Her Sensual Side
After Stewart unintentionally made a statement when she posted a sexy photo of herself pouting in her swimming pool, she explained to People that she "[loves] doing those promiscuous, provocative things, because it's just fun."
8. CBD For Stress-Relief
CBD has become incredibly popular for easing people to sleep and Stewart is such a fan that she created her own line of CBD oil drops. She told CNBC that since she's an insomniac she likes to take "a dropper full of the orange [flavored oil] or a dropper full of the lemon" and she also loves her CBD gummies.
9. Prioritizing Overall Health
Wishing to keep her body just as fit as her mind, on top of consuming healthy, organic foods Stewart believes in supplements and vitamins, telling CNBC:
"I’m very interested in supplements ... in what will make you live longer, what will make your brain stay clear and what will make you continue to be active ... Those are the kinds of things that I’m looking for, not the secret to eternal youth."
10. Never Giving Up And Trying New Things
Stewart's main piece of advice for those wishing to remain youthful is to simply "go for it ... it's always better to try." She adds:
“I’m constantly trying new things … I love developing things and building things ... But those are things that keep one young, keep one interested, and keep one relevant.”
