Humans tend to forget that they are actually animals. Although we have evolved far past natural standards of living, we still evolved from primates living in the wild. This connection hasn't been completely broken as there is still a strong desire and yearning within all humans to be outside.

Although yoga can be performed at home, many people prefer participating in classes to perfect their form. Whether paying for a yoga studio or gym membership, these costs can add up quickly. On the other hand, hiking is completely free. All you need is a sturdy pair of shoes and a hiking trail. Hiking can be done anywhere and at anytime.
4. It's a full-body activity.
Yoga is typically praised for working the entire body. Hiking can provide a similar function as it requires movement from muscles throughout the body. The leg and butt muscles are used to move the body while arm muscles are engaged for stabilization. Hiking is also a fantastic cardiovascular workout.

Hiking is much more enjoyable when done in a group. Not only can hiking alone be dangerous, but it also doesn't have to be challenging. This can be a great opportunity to catch up with friends and spend some quality time together. There is nothing quite as bonding as a difficult hike through nature.

Many people perform yoga as a meditative exercise in addition to the fitness aspect. These movements often require controlled breathing and other meditative components. If you find it hard to meditate in a yoga studio, then hiking may be the perfect alternative. Nature is a great place to find a calming and tranquil atmosphere.
