Alice Cooper was born on February 4, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan. As a teenager, Cooper moved to Phoenix where he formed the Alice Cooper band with some fellow schoolmates. Upon graduation, Cooper declared in his yearbook that his ambition was to become a “million record seller.”

According to his website, the band was eventually discovered by Frank Zappa in LA in 1969, and they got signed.

His band would prove to be a huge success, with their first major album, “Love It to Death,” being released in 1971. Alice Cooper’s nightmarish theatrics combined with the band’s legendary sound would eventually earn them huge successes.

In 1975, Cooper decided to break away and start a solo career, with “Welcome to My Nightmare,” being his first album. The album eventually landed him a legendary concert tour as well as a TV special. The 72-year-old has since made numerous TV and film appearances, including The Muppet Show, Sextette, Roadie, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearst Club Band and more.

The 1980s saw Cooper explore other genres in music ranging from heavy metal to melodic hard rock, with the legendary single “Poison,” becoming his best selling album and single throughout his whole career.

Alice Cooper married ballerina and actress Sheryl Goddard in 1976. The pair have since had three children: Sonora and Calico, and son Dashiell. Although the couple suffered a rough patch along the way with Goddard filing for divorce in 1984, at the height of his alcolohism, they have since reconciled and stuck together.
