Gwen Stefani’s Teenage Son Sparks Mixed Reaction From Fans Who Claim His 6-Year Relationship With Girlfriend Is 'Not Real'

Oct 05, 2023

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are one of Hollywood's most adorable couples. From the beginning of their romance in 2015 when they were coaches on "The Voice" to their frequent social media posts about each other where they often declare their love for one another, the couple has shared an incredibly sweet high-profile romance for over seven years.

After dating for over five years, during which both would frequently gush about the other during interviews and on social media, it became a hot topic about whether they would ever get married, with the couple frequently having to field questions about any rumored engagements. Then in October 2020, Shelton proposed to Stefani inside a chapel that he built on his Oklahoma ranch. The news spread that the couple was finally engaged, with Shelton writing on his Instagram page that Stefani saved his 2020.

In July 2021, the couple had their gorgeous wedding at Shelton's Oklahoma ranch, which was officiated by none other than Carson Daly, the host of "The Voice." Since then, the couple has been living in wedded bliss and even occasionally performed together while introducing the other as their husband or wife.

After celebrating their first year of marriage, Shelton revealed that instead of focusing on his country music career going forward, he would choose to focus on his family. Stefani has three children from a previous marriage: 17-year-old Kingston, 15-year-old Zuma, and 9-year-old Apollo. True to his words, Shelton has entered a new phase as a doting stepfather to the kids. His bond with Stefani’s oldest son, Kingston, is worthy of note, as Shelton introduced the young musician to the crowd for his debut performance in August 2023.

Besides his debut performance, Kingston is beginning to put himself out there more. On Aug. 1, 2023, he shared a picture on Instagram, celebrating himself and his girlfriend, Lola Albert on their sixth dating anniversary.

Stefani was led into music by her musician older brother, Eric. Not only did Eric introduce her to the 2 Tone genre of music, he also introduced her to No Doubt, the band where she got her musical start. In 2004, years after the band achieved mainstream success, Stefani decided to pursue a solo career with her debut album, “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” Her decision to explore a solo career paid off, as it skyrocketed her career to greater heights.

Throughout the course of her career, Stefani has experienced several breathtaking moments, from bagging several highly acclaimed awards to making record sales, among others. But witnessing her eldest son, Kingston, who is following in her footsteps, perform in public for the first time takes the cake as one of Stefani's most memorable moments.

In a chat with People, Stefani revealed that Kingston is a talented songwriter, noting that she wasn’t being sentimental because he was her son but because he was indeed good at it.

"King has been writing a bunch of amazing songs. When it's your kid, it's like, you love everything, but this is next level to me. These are really good songs," the proud mom shared.

Kingston going live with his music took Stefani on a journey of nostalgia. The “Rich Girl” singer recalled that she was about the same age when she started her music career. She also talked about the difficulty of combining her job as a musician on tour with her role as a new mom in her younger years.

"I took Kingston on a world tour (when he was 9 months old). We did 120 shows. I would have to nurse him and then get on stage, and then come off and he would twirl my ponytail," she fondly recalled.

August 2023 was a big month for the 17-year-old Kingston. Besides going public with his music, he celebrated his relationship anniversary with his girlfriend, Albert. In a post shared on Instagram, Kingston paid tribute to his girlfriend, highlighting that they had spent six years together.

“What a year. You’re everything i’ve ever wanted and more. There’s no other way i would have wanted to spend these last six years. To many more together. Happy anniversary my beautiful girl i love you so much ❤️,” he wrote in the caption.

The caption threw some fans off. Many of them expressed their best wishes to the couple, and others aired their surprise at how a 17-year-old could celebrate his six-year dating anniversary with his girlfriend.

“Awwww happiest anniversary you two cuties ♥️♥️♥️,” one user commented.

“Wow 🤩 Happy Anniversary ❤️,” a second user wrote.

“SO HE WAS 11 WHEN THEY STARTED DATING..BRO YOUR STILL A KID ITS NOT REAL AT THAT AGE..” a third user opined.

“Six years!!!! How old are you? That’s longer than all my relationships combined lol😂,” another fan commented.

It turns out that the Aug. 1, 2023 post was not the first time the teenager celebrated his anniversary with his girlfriend. On Aug. 2, 2022, and Aug. 2, 2021, Kingston made similar posts celebrating his dating anniversary with Albert.

Like Kingson, Albert, who is also 17 years old, shared a carousel of pictures on Instagram in celebration of their anniversary.

“happy anniversary baby! you have made the last six years so amazing. i love how much i laugh when I’m around you. i love you! thank you for making me the happiest girl.💕,” she wrote in the caption.
