Grandmother Drummer Shows Her Skills By Playing A Cover Of A Disturbed Hit

When most grandmothers are sitting in their rocking chairs, 68-year-old Dorothea Taylor is rocking out as a well-known drummer. Dorothea’s life seemingly revolves around music. With 55 years of musical experience, Dorothea has been named "the Godmother of Drumming" by her friends and those who follow her Instagram channel.
Dorothea jokes that often times, people are surprised by her commitment to drumming. Dorothea shrugs off suggestions that she is too old to be playing the drums. In a new video for the YouTube channel Drumeo, Dorothea reminds the world that drummers come in all shapes, sizes, and ages.

The experienced musician advises her audience to not judge a drummer by how they look and to always share your passion with the world. Dorothea also played a rocking rendition of Disturbed’s “Down With the Sickness” for the channel.
At age 13, Dorothea joined a drum and bugle corps. As a high school student in Michigan, the young Dorothea was involved with her school’s drumline and played in bands five nights a week. Currently a church organist and music teacher, Dorothea now plays with a variety of bands, ranging from polka to hard rock, according to Drum Magazine.
With over a hundred thousand followers on her Instagram, Dorothea routinely posts video showing off her drum skills. Ever intent on spreading her musical passion, Dorothea also provides tutorials for beginner drummers, sharing the wealth of wisdom she has accumulated in her decades of drumming.
