Giant Panda On Loan To French Zoo From China Births ‘Lively, Pink And Plump’ Twin Cubs
Aug 06, 2021
It’s hard to resist watching an adorable animal video, and this one of a giant panda and her cute cubs is no exception. The giant panda named Huan Huan is currently on loan from China to France and has recently given birth to two sweet twin cubs. The father is Yuan Zi, another giant panda on the same 10-year loan as Huan Huan. The twin pandas were born on Aug. 2, 2021, at the Beauval Zoo, located just south of Paris.
Pandas typically have a hard time breeding, as their pregnancies can be unpredictable and extremely difficult to follow. Luckily, there are several nations in Europe that also have large panda populations, including Germany, Spain, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands. With the birth of this set of twins, the progress toward the conservation of the species continues to be well on its way. China is most known for its panda population and its generosity in gifting these sweet creatures to other nations for periods of time.
Although the baby pandas do not have names yet, they have already captured the hearts of those at the zoo in France, as well as many people across the world. Not yet showing their typical black and white fur, these little pandas are pink and plump, full of life and health. Being tended to day and night, these twins are constantly cared for and shown a great amount of love and affection from the zoo staff as the rest of the world is able to watch on in amazement.

The Associated Press (AP) reported that Huan Huan gave birth to her babies shortly after 1 a.m. on Aug. 2, 2021. The babies weighed 5.3 ounces and 4.6 ounces, respectively, and appear to be in great health. The Beauval Zoo stated that the twins “are very lively, pink and plump,” as per AP. “Huan Huan is taking care of them very well,” as per AP.
A video from AFP News Agency showed the mother panda giving birth to her beautiful babies, who were incredibly pink and squealing with life after being born. “We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time and seeing these two babies being born and in perfect health is completely crazy,” Beauval Zoo director Rodolphe Delord said. “It is one more step for the conservation of the species.”
The panda parents are currently on a 10-year loan from China to France, aimed at highlighting good ties between the countries, as per AP. The twins are the second and third cubs ever born in France, with the first panda cub having been born in 2017. While there are many pandas across several nations in Europe, there are plenty in China as well. AP reported that there are about 1,800 pandas living in the wild in China and about 500 in captivity across the world.
China has become well known for its “panda diplomacy,” as the country has gifted these friendly creatures to other nations for decades. AFP News Agency reported that the wife of President Xi Jinping, China’s president, will be the one who names the twin pandas. According to AP, they are set to spend a few years in France before being later sent to China.
