Furious Bride Cancels Wedding As She Discovers Her Mom Paid Her Fiancé To Go Out With Her

After getting engaged, the fun and romantic part of planning a dream wedding can begin. From the flower arrangements to the color of the napkins, the finest details are taken into consideration when planning your special day. After that comes a lifetime full of love and commitment to one another, and the potential to start a family and grow even closer together.

People get to know each other more and more as their relationship continues and as they take the next steps together. Unfortunately, this can sometimes backfire and lead to fights or even breakups, or in this case, a shocking reveal of a big lie. One woman went to the internet to explain the story of how her once-in-a-lifetime love turned out to be something much less romantic. 

What seemed like a fairytale quickly turned into a nightmare as the furious bride learned more about her upcoming nuptials. The bride canceled her wedding shortly after finding out that her own mother paid her fiancé to date her. The story made its way to mass audiences thanks to the internet in May 2021. With plenty of plot twists throughout along the way, the woman’s story was like no other as she went into detail about how her future had radically changed upon her recent discovery. Despite the mess she dealt with, she did not give up on finding real love.

The news and entertainment website Buzzfeed asked its readers to share their reasons for calling off their wedding, and most of the answers were full of unbelievable stories. The Mirror reported that one woman, in particular, called off her wedding because her mother had actually paid her fiancé to date her.

According to the woman’s story, she had only been with her boyfriend for two months before he got down on one knee and proposed to her. “It was all so fast and I was head over heels, so when he proposed with a massive diamond, I just went for it and said yes,” she said. “I had nothing to lose.” The couple seemed to be completely head over heels for one another and quickly began planning their beautiful ceremony and reception. 

In a surprise turn of events, the woman’s parents offered to pay for everything to help make planning the wedding as easy as possible. The soon-to-be bride asked her fiance about why his parents weren’t offering to pay and why the burden fell on her parents’ shoulders. “I always asked him why his parents wouldn't pay, but my parents would butt in and say they insisted, and he claimed his family was poor,” she explained.

According to the Mirror, the woman’s mother bought her a dream dress, both expensive and stunningly gorgeous, and continued to offer to pay for whatever the bride needed. The woman grew suspicious of how exactly her fiancé was able to pay for such a big engagement ring since he had claimed that his family didn’t have any money. 

She prodded further in her investigation and went to the store the ring was purchased at to find out just how much it was worth. According to the Mirror, the shop assistant working that day remembered the person who purchased the ring. “The man at the store said it was one-of-a-kind and he remembered it being bought,” the woman said. “Apparently, my fiancé didn’t buy it, my mother did…” The records indicated that her mother had actually bought the ring a month before the happy couple even started dating. 

Wanting answers, the bride confronted her parents about the situation. “It turns out, she met him through a friend and paid him to go out on our first date (to a five-star restaurant),” the woman explained. “She paid for all of our dates and, of course, my wedding because she was so desperate for me to get married and he was just in it for the money.” The entire relationship had been a complete fabrication on the fiancé’s part. 

Lucky for the woman who is no longer a soon-to-be bride, she managed to find a happy ending. She had come out to her parents about her sexuality prior to the fake fiance incident and revealed that she was bisexual. The Mirror reported that the woman felt like her family never fully accepted her for that reason. Nonetheless, the woman never gave up on finding real love. She concluded her story full of plot twists and said, “I am now dating a wonderful woman and my mother and I no longer speak.”
