Frustrated Single Mom Writes Online Post About Her Ex-Husband And Gets Arrested For It

How many times have stories been told about ex-spouses who found themselves at war with each other? It makes one think things might have been better had they decided to stay together. What's the old saying: "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer?"

This is the story of a Georgia mom who was left to raise her two kids as primary custodian after she and her husband decided to divorce. While it's apparent dad had some involvement in the kid's lives, mom was clearly not impressed by the efforts dad had made in this one particular situation.

One fateful day back in 2015, Anne King was having a particularly bad day. She was feeling a bit exhausted from handling her own responsibilities while tending to her two children who had both come down with some kind of a flu bug.

As the story goes, she reached out to the ex-husband, a local deputy Sheriff, for a little help with the kids. According to a post she made on Facebook about that moment in time, she spoke to her feelings: “That moment when everyone in your house has the flu and you ask your kids’ dad to get them (not me) more Motrin and Tylenol and he refuses.”

While the comment might seem innocent enough, it's easy to see how the ex-husband might have received the message as a bit of a jab pointed towards his interest in being a parent. It probably exacerbated the issue when some of Anne's friends offered their support for Anne's plight right there on that same post.

Some things are not easily forgotten. Clearly, dad was a bit miffed about what he read. At this point, it is hard to fathom what was about to take place. In a bit of what one could only assume was retaliatory, the ex-husband decided to show the post to the local magistrate judge reports Fox. The judge reacted by having Anne picked up and charged with criminal defamation.

After spending five hours in jail, an embarrassed and startled Anne was released. It turns out the arrest and charges were unconstitutional, resulting in Anne getting an apology from the ex and a settlement of $100K for false arrest from the state.

All's well that ends well.
