Foster Mom Takes In 41-Pound Cat And Promises To Help Him Get Healthy And Find His Forever Home

Across the nation, cats are often treated as well as family members with some of them living lives that rival the most spoiled child! Sadly, there are still an alarming number of pets that are trapped in shelters or foster homes, anxiously waiting to find their forever home.

Thanks to research done by the ASPCA, we now know that approximately 3.3 million dogs and 3.2 million cats come into the shelters across the country every year! And, as hard as shelter workers try to find them homes, around 670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats are euthanized as well.

Barsik is one of those animals who is waiting to find his forever family. A beautiful white cat with a dark pattern on his face, Barsik looks like a stuffed animal. A really big stuffed animal!

Barsik isn’t like your average house cat – this furry feline weighs in at 41-pounds!

At five-years-old, Barsik and his feline friend Sukie were both left at the shelter when their original human family had to move and had no way to take the cats along.

A woman who worked with the Anjellicle Cats Rescue team caught sight of Barsik on a social media site and decided to become this kitty’s guardian angel! While she couldn’t adopt Barsik, she agreed to foster him and help him become a healthier weight.

While a 41-pound cat is quite a novelty, it isn’t really healthy for an animal to be that obese. Barsik’s new foster mom is working hard to slowly lower his weight so that he can have a longer, better life with his future family.

With the help of a vet, it’s been determined that Barsik needs to weigh about 15-20 pounds, meaning that he will need to lose more than half of his current body size. It’s a slow process but the foster mom isn’t giving up!

Working alongside the vet, Barsik’s foster mom has put him on a diet that will help him to shed some of the unnecessary weight.

In the meantime, Barsik’s foster mom is working to help him find a future home. She has set up an Instagram account to help people connect with this furry boy so that he will have a family waiting for him once his weight is under control.
