Father Surprises Daughter By Hiring Award-Winning Singer To Sing Her Favorite Songs On Her Wedding Day

One father made sure to make his daughter feel special on one of the most important days of her life by giving her a surprise of a lifetime – and it was indeed a moment that they will both remember for the rest of their lives.

Jim, whose daughter grew up a huge Disney fan, knew it would make his daughter happy by hiring the woman who served as the singing voice for "A Whole New World" and "Reflection," to sing on her wedding day. The two songs are from the Disney animated classics "Aladdin" and "Mulan," respectively. Yes, the one and only Lea Salonga, who is also known for her Tony-winning performance in the stage musical "Miss Saigon," performed on his daughter's wedding day in Charleston, South Carolina, in October 2022.

The company that immortalized the "magical moment" between Jim and his daughter, Matt & Meredith Films, uploaded the video on YouTube. As of writing, the video has already garnered more than 4.8 million views on the video-sharing platform.

"Disney meant the world to her. And probably, there are fathers in this room who can attest. We've watched "Lion King" and "Hercules" 50 or 70 times. We can still repeat the words verbatim," Jim said in his speech before bringing Salonga out.

He went on: "But one of my daughters' favorite songs that she loved as a child was from the movie "Aladdin." There was a woman who was the lead in the movie. And we have her here tonight to sing for me and my daughter to dance for our first song."

When Salonga came out, she congratulated Kaitlyn for her incredible wedding with her husband, Mark, and thanked the latter's father, Jim, for having her on her daughter's special day.

"To Katie, huge congratulations to you and to Mark on your very special day. If you don't know who I am, my name is Lea Salonga and I did the singing voices for two Disney princesses which is why I'm here. I'm very honored that you've invited us to come. Thanks, Jim, for the invitation," Salonga said.

Salonga said she had to keep the surprise a secret between her and Kaitlyn's father and best friend. She also said that she couldn't be any happier to know that Kaitlyn's favorite songs happen to be the ones that she was given a chance to perform.

"You're Dad said you're a huge Disney fan. Your best friend was telling us today that you are such a huge Disney fan and that she had to keep this secret for so long. And when we were outside, I had to hold it for two more minutes and then it's done. Lucky for us that because she's a big Disney fan, a couple of her favorite songs happen to be the ones that I got to do," Salonga stated.

Dedicating the first song to Jim and Kaitlyn, Salonga remarked:

"This first one, I'd like to dedicate to the both of you as you do your daddy-daughter dance. I think we're gonna cry up her when this happens. This is such a pleasure to do "A Whole New World" for you."

Kaitlyn broke down in tears, especially during their emotional daddy-daughter dance. At the end of Salonga's performance, Kaitlyn ran towards Lea backstage to give her a hug.

People said they couldn't hold back their tears while watching the heartwarming moment between Kaitlyn and her dad.

"The bride's expression when Lea starts to sing... her Dad is amazing! This totally made me cry. Lea's voice is magic!" one person said.

Another person shared how the song fits the new bride perfectly, while another said the father just showed the groom that his daughter should be treated just like a princess.

"I have never realized that "A Whole New World" fits perfectly for a father-daughter relationship as well. Showing his princess a whole new world, from her birth, literally for a father! This is so touching," one person remarked.

"This is her dad showing the groom how to take care of her. A daughter will always be a dad's gem," another person said.

There were also those who pointed out just how much the father loves his daughter, judging by the amount of money he spent to pull off the surprise just to make her happy.

"What makes us cry is the fact that the Dad spent thousands of dollars to afford Lea Salonga just to make her daughter happy on her wedding day. That's a genuine unconditional priceless Father's Love," one person said.

"If there's an award for Best Dad of the Year, this dad deserves this. Locating, affording, and securing THE Lea Salonga as a performer is not a feat every rich person can do. This dad scoured the planet to do this," another person said.
