‘Father, Mentor, Hero’: Retiring Police Officer Gets Teary-Eyed When He Hears Son’s Voice on Radio During Final Send-Off
Jun 25, 2021
With another Father’s Day now behind us, everyone is taking the time to celebrate and appreciate the men in their life who have made a difference, even if they are not related. Having a mentor and someone you can count on from a young age is important for every child’s development. Every father dreams of making their child proud.
One father, Albert Beas, got to hear a heartfelt message during his final send-off on his last day working for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. After 25 years of service, Beas finished his last shift on June 11, 2021, and as he was signing off like he normally does, he heard the sound of his son’s voice over the radio. His son went into a very touching speech about how much his father meant to him and how proud he was of his father’s service to their community.
At the sound of his son’s kind words, Beas began to tear up and couldn’t hold back his emotions. There is plenty to feel emotional over when a person is retiring, especially when considering how much it changes a person’s daily life. Mixed with the surprise speech, Beas was sent over the edge. Hopefully, he will enjoy his retirement and will get some much-earned relaxation.
The story is from June 2021 and has touched the hearts of many and was covered by local news stations as well as The Western Journal and Yahoo! News. The video footage of Beas hearing his son's message was viewed over 10,000 times on Facebook and hundreds of people left comments wishing Beas a happy retirement and thanking him for his service.

Beas’ son, Nikalus, had this message for his father on the day of his retirement: “Today, it is my great honor and sincere pleasure to announce that as of 14:00 hours on this day, after 25 years of serving this great community and beautiful city of Las Vegas, my father, mentor, hero and so much more, Officer Albert Beas, is retiring and has been secured for the day for his final time. Dad, you’re secured for retirement. I love you.”

Congratulations on 25 years of service.” It is great that other people are able to emotionally connect to this story.
