Aug 16, 2020

People go to their home for a sense of safety and comfort, and it should help you rest and rejuvenate after a stressful day. The only people in your home should be your family and occasional guests, but sometimes the sanctity of the home is violated. A couple living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania who experienced this back in July of 2017 is unsure how long their home had been invaded.

According to CBS Pittsburgh, Jerome and Ashley Kennedy had just brought a new baby into the world when the strange sounds began coming from the attic. The couple was terrified to discover that their 69-year-old neighbor Robert Havrilla had snuck into their attic to spy on them and their infant.

Jerome discovered something odd one day when he was taking a nap in his bedroom. He heard some strange sounds from above, and he looked up to discover a light coming through a pipe in the ceiling. He was suspicious of what could be making the sounds and light, so he decided to install a camera to record what was happening up there.

The camera captured footage of their neighbor in their attic carrying a power drill. It was later discovered that Havrilla installed an access wall that gave him entry to the couple's attic. Jerome also found out that Robert had drilled several holes in a shared wall that allowed him to spy on the Kennedy family.

Havrilla was arrested, and he faced charges of stalking and trespassing to which he pled not guilty. According to 11 News, Harvilla was found guilty of criminal trespassing and was sentenced on October 31st of 2018.
