Father Asks Others To Wash Hands Before Touching Infants As He Almost Lost Baby To Illness

We all want the best for our children. Whether it’s choosing the right car seat or making sure they eat their vegetables, each small decision we make on their behalf has a profound impact. One father learned the life and death consequences of one such everyday choice.

His daughter’s birth should have been the happiest time of his life. After months of anticipation, seeing her should’ve brought this dad nothing but joy. When doctors and nurses delivered some bad news, it felt even more tragic.

His newborn daughter’s lungs had been infected with the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), he wrote on Imgur. This life-threatening infection is caused by viral meningitis and can quickly have dire consequences. Since his daughter also developed pneumonia, bronchiolitis, and a partially collapsed right lung, she fought for her life on a ventilator in the intensive care unit.

 This dad reminded everyone on the internet to wash their hands frequently when around young children. Even though this message arrived too late to prevent his child’s health crisis, he sought to stop similar tragedies among other children.

"RSV is no joke... Please make sure to wash your hands before handling little ones," he wrote on Imgur.
